About Troubled Waters
Troubled Waters is a turn-based retro horror game. You wake up in a spaceship unable to remember much and are sent to find an ancient mirror at the bottom of an alien ocean. Nothing is as it seems and what awaits you is only pain and terror; however, the watcher is here to guide you.On your journey to the abyss and to uncover the mirror and truth, you will encounter various apparitions in the waters. Ancient artefacts can be collected and sold to the watcher to buy rope, which you need to advance, as well as precious charms to protect you in your next plunges.However, these troubled waters also host many other entities, and you are not welcome. Use your 3 tools, the orientator, the globe and the cross to navigate these waters, collect loot and avoid dangerous entities.You will soon find however, that something big and terrifying is chasing you. Make sure you listen for cues and avoid the leviathan if you want to make it to the mirror.

Can be very rough in the first 15 minutes or so, it's not a difficult game but it can be punishing until you figure out what you doing, just not a good first impression with various design problems, strange control mapping, and other technical issues. If you can look past that, I do think the game has some interesting psychological moments, the jump scares were generally done in good taste, I liked the models for the sea monsters, and the last labyrinth section had a very foreboding feel to it with an interesting conclusion. It plays like a diving game with some 'resource management' and horror elements, you swim around using a turn-based gameplay similar to old dungeon crawlers, avoiding monsters, collecting various items, and selling them at the store when you surface. How deep you can go is limited by how much rope you have saved, you will have to do a bit of grinding before you can get to the lowest part, and on the bottom there is another location which you have to figure out how to unlock. There are a few items that can help you avoid monsters and navigate, although they can be a bit tricky to use until you have more experience with the game. Intensely scary and full of suspense. Took a little bit to figure out the mechanics, or movement of the game, but then the intrigue caught me. I would recommend this game to anyone who likes scary games full of suspense.
Scary creatures, unique and fun gameplay. Takes a short time to get used to, but definitely worth 6 bucks. A full playthrough on average will take about 6 hours, so the price/gameplay is really good.
Weird and beautiful underwater horror game that lets you slowly go deeper into a dangerous sea where you meet very strange and eerie creatures. I needed some time to get used to the turn based mechanics of the game, but then it became a fascinating ride into the deep. Strongly recommended.
this game needs to fix the rope mechanic its too expansive? or im just not understanding it its like i resurface and it says i dont have enough rope well can't my character just follow his rope back up and not use any extra? like Theseus and the Minotaur.
