About Umbra Fields
No matter what you choose, and what you do, you will have an impact upon the world. Do you wish to be a criminal, or a savior? That is up to you.Choose between 15 distinct classes:
The Flame: The land of The Flame, an active volcano where Fire Elementals are born.The Land of the Sea: A land once known for its, it has become melted to be a grand Sea.The Gaea Forrest: The last of nature, all connected to the goddess Gaea. (Highly recommended for new players)Angelic Constabulary: A land for the last of an holy order that wants to maintain law.The Prison: Those who break the law are sent to the Prison to rot, while it's controlled by the Mafia.Lich Fields: Sky islands full of rot and sickness where Wizards and Summoners roam free.Pig Nation: A nation isolated from the rest after The Great War, run by the pigs who have no God.No Man's Land: The only thing that connects the nations together, only the outcasts live here, and the beasts roam free. (NOTE: This option shouldn't be chosen on your first playthrough and I HIGHLY recommend you do any other nation first. Even with the rework to No Man's Land, it is made for people wanting a challenge or to travel to other nations without being a Fowler.)
- Warrior: A well-balanced person with a focus on strength. Made to do any quests.
- Doctor: Healers that can heal the sickness across each nation, yet are weak on their own.
- Thief: Shopkeepers never sell to them, with their moves constantly under watch. Going to The Prison is the least of the thief's worries.
- Hunter: They live for the hunt and the slaughter. They can be found to get good pay from hunting rare beasts.
- Rune Master: The old and intelligent being that can read cosmic words.
- Summoner: They can summon creatures to protect themselves. Hated by most, they are targeted for creating abominations in the world.
- Ice Spearmen: Fishermen who fish whenever they can find any remaining, clean water.
- Investigator: A detective who can use guns, talk to enemies when possible, and can take on cases for others. If you are cunning enough, some will join you by speech alone.
- Priest: The Gods need priests to spread their holy words, teaching them holy magic.
- Brute: A Warrior that has no honor, fierce in the wild, yet cannot live among civilization.
- Storm Evoker: The Forbidden One was one of these; a being that can control storms. The outcasts worship Evokers, others fear them.
- Fowler: Flying beasts that can travel to any place they please, but are hunted.
- Fire Elemental: Due to the Great War, The Flame has made all Fire Elementals be worshiped and adored. Yet not all feel the same way.
- The Slime: A mistake not meant to live. An experiment to remove all bones so you can no longer be injured and stronger in battle, comes with a downside. Your body is made out of a liquid mush that is weak to everything. Only those who wish for pain choose the slime
- The Blameless: One who is random with their speech, and their spells. They cannot be blamed for their actions, as every time they open their mouths, it is unknown what will come out. Beasts of the Umbra Fields attack them last, knowing their randomness can be beneficial.

RPG Maker strikes again! Umbra Fields is one of hundreds of low effort retro-pixel RPG Maker asset/construction kit flips spamming the Steam catalog, made with the RPG Maker video game construction kit... in their own words, "Our easy to use tools are simple enough for a child." Like all RPG Maker "games", this is essentially a bunch of low quality assets (notably most of the assets here seem to be custom instead of just copy + pasted RPG Maker stock assets... but they're still very low quality) coupled with a cringeworthy high school anime club fan fiction. As with all RPG Maker games, the poor quality engine displays badly in fullscreen and doesn't have full HD support or any graphics tweaking options, making this unacceptable for any dedicated modern PC gamer. The point can be made that the intention of RPG Maker is to make demos and small games to pass around friends, and shouldn't be used for "professional" game development. Like most RPG Maker shovelware, the game features extremely low quality 2D retro pixel art (original or not), looks awful, and has even worse gameplay. Alright. First impressions of [i]Umbra Fields[/i]. [b]Some updates addressing the concerns I've had have already been added to the game. I've made some adjustments to my review to reflect the changes so far and will be looking forward to seeing what else is adjusted. As of now though, the game is definitely playable and I'm able to switch my former negative rating to a positive review instead, with caveats listed and adjusted as necessary.[/b] [h1]Pros[/h1] The actual combat feels true to classic first person viewpoint turn based JRPG style combat, where you are staring down your opponents. The boost system is nice. Okay, the two positive reviews... and the trailer on this page now are obviously BS. There is absolutely NO WAY that anyone would play this broken turd of an RPG maker game for 10+ hours as shown in the current two positive reviews. This game is absolutely broken and this shows how little this developer cares about the quality of his game and also how little he cares about his own reputation. Charging $20 for what I just witnessed would be like charging someone $20 for a slap of their face. https://youtu.be/E7yRZaPbTTQ There is no character creation, there is no introduction or start or story explaining anything at all. The game just immediately puts you hovering over some labyrinth and you can slide around and clicking random spots will eventually bring up some random enemy. You can't choose magic or special attacks or items as you have none. You can hit the enemy 700 times, but he never takes any damage and eventually you just get killed. Yeah, epic game you made here Mr Dev. I see that I also gave a negative review to a very forgettable title he made back in 2022 called 'Via Mortis" which what also completely broken crap. A fever dream of creative world design, wildly clashing art styles, and abominable spelling. What I assumed was the complete game turned out to be a tutorial. Edit: my original thumbs-down was criticism of the hub area. The hub has been revised to make it less frustrating, so I'll tentatively make this a thumbs-up.1 found this helpful
