crashes constantly. its unplayable.3 found this helpful
I have actually played this game when it was first released and I am delighted to have see it again, this time here on Steam. Although I must admit that the game kinda shows its age, in terms of the less than ideal resolution compared to the games that we play now, I still think that the charm of its storytelling and its design are still there. I am glad to be playing this game again and hopefully, Playfirst would still continue to do some updates to minimise the bugs in the game.1 found this helpful
Really wanted to play, but as others have pointed out, continuous crashes make it impossible to assess the gameplay.1 found this helpful
Headline: Reporter Doesn't Understand How Birthmarks Work. I was shocked this game worked in Windows 11 without any intervention. I've had it untouched in my library for at least a decade and fully expected it would be unplayable. This game comes from an era when low resolution images with precise click-boxes were the norm for Hidden Object Games HOGs, constituting the majority of the play challenge. But, during that era, an effort was usually made at cogent storytelling that didn't require narcotics to comprehend. This title, however, distinguishes itself from other games of that era by including a variety of mini-games that fit wonderfully with the themes and setting of the story. The whole experience is well-crafted, though the subject matter is far too grisly for children. What's missing is the option for free play after the story that let's you just go back and find every single item on each screen, which was a feature in many games of that era. If you like classic HOGs, I recommend trying it if it goes on sale, and testing it immediately so you can get a quick refund if it doesn't work for you (as an unfortunate number of reviewers have experienced).
GOOD AND DEEP STORY, SIMPLE BUT FUN, EVERYTHING IS GOOD
The credits claim that it runs on Mac but I can't get it to start at all. A message pops up saying that a plug in is missing that the developer hasn't updated. It basically crashes my system and I have to restart to get out of it.
