About vApe Escape
vApe Escape is a point-and-click adventure in a science fiction comedy setting. The player takes control of an innocent ape who must escape the sad destiny of becoming a vape dispenser machine for the wealthy hipsters of the universe.
The game will take the player across many (read: two) locations on board a space-faring cargo ship transporting vApe dispensers to the galaxy, and features multiple (read: two) endings to the story, depending on how you play it. Since it is imagined as an "interactive comic", you can print out your gameplay in comic-book format once you've finished the game, and put it on your comic-book shelf to impress your friends!

"vApe Escape" is a weird and rather poorly made point and click adventure where you control an ape who must escape being turned into a vape dispenser machine for wealthy hipsters. It's a vaguely surreal, and yet still completely unengaging plot, combined with equally poor, obsolete point and click gameplay, and a poor quality techical execution. At least this is a sincerely and genuinely made game instead of some asset flip or mobile app or whatever. Visually, this features mediocre hand drawn style "Baby's First Wacom Tablet" art instead of contemporary graphics. This obviously looks better than pixelcrap, but that's a really low bar to barely stumble over. It's hard to say if this was because the developer didn't have the skill to do the job of creating 3D visuals, or couldn't afford to hire someone who does, but it also doesn't matter. What matters is that this looks worse than a professionally made game would look, and that's a major deterrent. This game is fairly dated at 6 years old... and even back then it looked old and busted compared to contemporary, professionally made 3D games of the same period. vApe Escape was a fun little surprise. The comic-style storytelling works really well and the story is genuinely funny. Honestly I did not expect much going into this game. I was interested in another game by these developers (All You Can Eat) but I was skeptical of the quality so I delved into other games in their catalog to see how their other titles held up and I decided to try this one because of it had the same art style and gameplay and it was also free. My initial impressions before I played the game was that this was going to be an edgy, over the top, interactive story with not much substance other than "haha funny monkey smokes in space lolol" and I was very wrong. It is a short story, lasting about 20-30 minutes but I had a blast playing it. The puzzles, though minimal, were quite engaging and I had a lot of fun trying to help this ape escape his destiny of being a drug on the intergalactic black market and setting him and his pals free with new-found sentience. I highly recommend this title and anything else by Gamechuck. All their games that I have tried out after discovering this one has been really fun! 10/10 experience!
