About We Are Not Alone

Gameplay
Combining two beloved genres, first person horror with third person adventure, We Are Not Alone creates a new sense of suspense with its unique camera mechanic.
Looking through the camera allows safe exploration, as the creature can not meet your gaze.
Placing the camera down though, is essential to solving puzzles with both hands, yet it will leave you vulnerable.

Story
The world may be going to hell, but Riley's worries extend beyond that.
3 months ago Riley's Sister applied for a job with the Osiris Initiative, the world leader in medical technology. Despite initially having a way to contact her, daily communications have ceased. Something isn't right.
Attempting to locate her sister by using connections at her job, Riley is fired for gross misconduct with no answers.
Applying to be a test subject with the Osiris Initiative, Riley hopes to gain information on the illusive organisation and ultimately find her sister.
That is... if the experiment is as safe as they said.
Features
- Explore the vast complex, unlock the secrets of the experiment and ultimately attempt to escape with your life.
- Solve puzzles using items found throughout your isolation.
- Encounter a long lost piece of civilisation... that may not be so civil.
- Use the camera to explore in first person and place it down to solve puzzles in third person.
- Multiple endings based on player choices

Aside from a misstep in the first hour involving a simple to solve puzzle, I thoroughly enjoyed this. It has a kind of unique FPS and Third Person pont & click visual gameplay element. The reasons for it feel kind of silly from a narrative standpoint, but it works. It's not scary, at least not for me. The atmosphere tries to keep you on edge but it never truly felt like there was any danger. I did die a few times though. The story is where the game shines. It starts out simple enough but quickly becomes more complex. The voice acting is good. It feels a little amateurish at times, which isn't a bad thing. I thought it added some realism to everything. Puzzles were a little annoying at times. Your character makes statements about something that makes you think you need some overly complex way to solve a puzzle. It usually just mean you need to interact using an object in your inventory. Most of the puzzles are very logical and are smooth sailing. Pacing is pretty spot on. The last quarter of the game fells a little off, but generally everything moves along at a very satisfying pace. In the end I'd suggest thinking of this as an adventure game with very slight horror…1 found this helpful
It's an ok game, but I'm not sure what type game it's trying to be. It keeps switching between classic 3rd person point and click adventure and modernish first person survival horror. Switching between the two interface control modes can be confusing. It's a bit of a slow burn to start with, but I guess that helps build up the creepy ambiance. The story isn't bad, and keeps you guessing for a while. I wasn't keen on the voice acting - especially the Charlie character who sounds as if he's on helium. There's a few slightly different endings. I'm pretty sure I got the "best" ending, and I wasn't enthralled enough with the game to replay the other endings. A few glitchy bugs like characters not showing on the screen even though they are there, but nothing game breaking. And there are some odd features such as a doors that are locked until you look at something else and that triggers the door unlocking for no obvious reason. Puzzles are straightforward and survival is fairly easy. I'd give this a 6/10. Worth a punt if you can get it on a good discount.
Always love to see a proudly Aussie game! 3.5 hours for my first playthrough, and for how cheap it goes on sale I'm very happy with my purchase. Great for a solo devs second game, the swapping between first person and point and click style was a cool gimmick, and featuring your backers as voice actors is really cute. No jumpscares and a very forgiving difficulty, plus the puzzles were logical and solutions felt natural. Also runs great on Steam deck.
Interesting concept, had a nice time surviving through the experience
unique and daring! My kinda game. the vast majority of the concept works, a few spots where it was a little too janky but it was fairly painless getting through those sections. Definitely worth it full price, you get to support innovation and its fun
I like it! Not one of the scariest games, at least not at first, but it develops a great atmosphere of dread.
