Players praise Weko as a charming love letter to classic 3D platformers and Zelda games, with appealing visuals, exploration-focused design, collectibles, and a cozy atmosphere that successfully recaptures nostalgic gameplay. However, common complaints include sluggish movement, repetitive combat, lack of clear direction and guidance that can leave players aimless, and technical issues like missing achievement unlocks and no cloud save support.
6/10. Game has great visuals, and overall pretty funny mechanics. It's just a little slow for me. Moving feels sluggish and combat feels repetitive.2 found this helpful
I originally played this game as a playtester as part of my Game Developer Weekends on Twitch. Weko is an amazing love letter to the 3D platformers we grew up with. It has all the mechanics you would expect. Masks, weapons, and shields can be found, earned, or bought throughout the world in order to enhance your stats or add special abilities to your build. There are many collectibles and secrets to find and collect throughout the game. There are enemies to fight as well as boss battles to navigate. There are also many different areas with their own themes, providing unique experiences in each. This game gives hard nostalgia vibes while also being it's own, unique IP. I highly recommend it to anyone who grew up on 3d platformer games on Nintendo or PlayStation.1 found this helpful
For some reason, not a single achievement unlocked for me, despite collecting everything minus like 3 or 4 masks that seemed kinda pointless to go find post-game. So there's definitely a bug there or something, the only bug I encountered really. Not a big deal for me, as I don't care about achievements, but figured I'd mention that first. This is a game that's pretty reminiscent of traditional 3D Zelda games, like OoT thru Skyward Sword. I'm a big fan of those games, and since Eiji Aonuma basically said Zelda would be sticking to the open world BOTW-style moving forward, I like to find games that still scratch that itch. It's not a difficult game in the slightest, as far as combat or puzzles go, but then again, neither is Zelda. There's also some side quests ripped straight outta OoT lol. Combat is rather slow and clunky, and jumping is very floaty, tho there's hardly any actual platforming so that doesn't matter much. Much like Zelda games, you'll spend a lotta time swapping out equipment and masks in your inventory screen, which I'm used to as a Zelda fan, but it would've been nice if there was a way to assign different loadouts to the D-pad. Also, there's no map or quest log, bu…1 found this helpful
What a delightful game. It has strong Legend of Zelda vibes - that is to say, classical Zelda - with an emphasis on exploration and puzzles. But the combat isn't too shabby either, being a simplified Soulslike. The charming aesthetic and writing give it a real cozy feeling. It reminds me of games I used to play as a kid, and in fact I'd say this is a perfect title to introduce young gamers to more experiences. Highly recommended.1 found this helpful
The game seemed ok at the begining but after sometime it feels like repetitive and I felt like wasting time running around trying to know where to go when there is no sense of direction nor guidance for such a game. I believe this is the first game in my entire life where I just gave up and decided to move on with my life. important fact: there is no cloud save.
