Wood and Flesh: A Candleforth Short Story is a tiny adventure that I found surprisingly effective despite its short length. It takes me back into the strange world of Candleforth, where cozy surroundings and folk horror exist together in a way that feels both comforting and unsettling. I liked the contrast because the game can look warm and inviting one moment and then quietly remind me that something much darker is hiding underneath. The gameplay is built around point and click exploration, puzzles and riddles. I spend my time examining objects and working out how different pieces of information fit together. I enjoyed the escape room style design because the game expects me to actually look at my surroundings rather than simply follow a series of obvious objectives. The puzzles are definitely the main reason to play. They are generally focused on observation and figuring out what the environment is trying to tell me. I liked the satisfaction of noticing a small detail and realizing that it was actually important. I fail to see anything horror related in just this little slice unless you're afraid of puppets, but I liked it. For a 7 minute demo/prologue whatever it is I really enjoyed my time spent, and would happily play more from these devs. One thing to note though, the default language is Spanish. You must go into the settings and figure out how to change it to English, which I didn't find difficult.
