words from pluto...

words from pluto... is a really small game, but it has one of those ideas that made me want to see where it was going. I am playing as Pluto and climbing a strange mountain where the words I collect are actually how I move. Instead of getting a normal jump button or a standard set of movement abilities, I have to find words that give me different ways to get around. It is a simple idea, but it gives the platforming a very different feel because I am constantly thinking about which words I have available and how I can use them. The main route is very short, with the game saying it can be finished in under 20 minutes, but I think the short length works reasonably well here. I am not spending hours with the same mechanic until it gets boring. I am climbing, finding scrolls and picking up new words that expand what I can do. Some words let me jump while others give me different movement options, so finding a new one can completely change how I approach the next section. I like that the game makes the words feel like actual tools rather than just pieces of text sitting around the level. What I really enjoyed is the way the game encourages me to experiment. This is a game to play for the ambiance first and foremost! Its a Dreamy, slightly esoteric vibe that is also reflected in gameplay mechanics A short, somewhat basic at first glance metroidvania without failstates beyond losing some minutes of progress, controlled entirely by arbitrary words, making otherwise simple tasks a somewhat abrasive movemebt puzzle in itself, this mechanic is a bit frustrating, sure, but having to interact with the world in this way is both where the puzzly aspects of this game and the weird feeling of disconnect shine best There are plenty of secrets to find too for those willing to go the extra mile, with three (or four...) distinct endings to find, although beyond two of them you may need tools outside the game to help you reach them, which is a bit of a peeve for me, I like best when all the exploration can be done from inside the game itself, let this be a hint for anyone trying to find it out by themselves Anyway, lovely time, lovely game, will keep an eye on the developer!

this game was super fun and really creative, at first i was like wtf is this?? but as soon as i figured out how to move the yellow guy i thought this was a really creative an original idea for a typing platformer that i hadnt seen b4. figuring out how to use yer limited move set to position yer charecter and solve puzzles felt really satisfying to solve and turning all the words u typed during the game into a poem in the end was really great to see lol game was short and sweet and its free so u have no reason not to try it out

yea Im not smart enough to decipher hidden things so I look up a guide instead. But the concept of typing words to move is pretty neat.

really fun concept, i think my fingers would get very tired if it were longer but its a nice length! looking forward to finding secrets !
