I bought the full version of this game after playing Our Life (several times), just because I wanted to support GB and their future projects. Based on the reviews, I didn't really plan on playing it. I'm glad I decided to go for it, though! It's a very different game from Our Life, but it's clear that a lot of the same charm and heart went into it. Negatives first. XOXO is a looonnng game (13 hours for my first completed route), and the elements that take up most of that time don't really feel useful. If you like management sims and school-life VNs, you might enjoy the daily grind of picking who you want to sit with for lunch on Mondays and how you will respond to the various cliques throughout the week. That said, unless you're aiming to date one of the clique boyfriends, your reputation has basically zero impact on gameplay. It's tedious to keep track of and just feels like a way to slow your progression with any one love interest, since you can't focus on one person without considering how hanging out with them at lunch or at work on the weekends will impact your reputation. You know why you're here. You know why you're playing this. The game features love interests that aren't nice and would definitely be considered jerks but that's the fun of it! The MC isn't some faceless character; she has her own personality and characteristics, so if that's not for you, I would recommend moving along. However, for someone like me, it was really refreshing to play! It was fun to think about her compatibility with others and the traits she managed to pull out of them. Are they necessarily deserving of her? No. But it's fun nonetheless to see how sometimes affection, a little bit of patience, and understanding can bring out the best in others. The endings are always fun and to be honest, while the gameplay can get repetitive, it's a really entertaining way to spend an evening! I would definitely recommend if you like grinding through games, but getting those fun little nuggets of worthwhile content and story. Mind you, they're still in high school and it's more fun than it is deep, but it's a good time!

Despite the premise that (almost) every is an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, it's honestly pretty cute and everyone has a charm to them. There's no real decision making for the story other than choosing which dude you want to date and grinding for the cliques, though. It's 50% a management sim and 50% watching everyone talk on their own - which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but I do wish we had more Options so we can choose what we say/do in those conversations. It's still highly addicting, though

i played this a while back when it first came out and loved it, replaying it again and i still love it. the characters are all really charming, the occasional voice acting is super fun, and for a game that came out like 9 years ago the diversity is really refreshing!! also i love the protagonist we need more mean protagonists
