✦ AI summary

Players praise YVY's distinctive art style rooted in Brazilian indigenous folklore, its engaging dice-driven gameplay mechanics, and its chill, auto-battle roguelike loop that feels handcrafted and culturally meaningful. However, concerns center around limited replayability since players reset their builds between stages, the relatively short overall playtime, and a demo that may have been so good it overshadowed the full game experience.

YVY is a strikingly distinct indie roguelite from Plural Filmes that blends dice-driven strategy with a powerful cultural identity rarely seen in the genre. Instead of leaning on generic fantasy tropes or familiar dungeon-crawler aesthetics, it builds its world around imagery drawn from Brazilian indigenous folklore, mythic symbolism, and the tumultuous history of resistance against colonial invasion. The result is an experience that feels both intimate and mythic, a game that pairs mechanical experimentation with a sense of cultural storytelling that seeps into every frame of its art and every beat of its rhythm. At its core, YVY revolves around a single, customizable six-faced die that acts as your avatar, weapon, and growth system all at once. Each face represents an ability—attacks, defenses, buffs, debuffs, or unique magical actions—and your effectiveness is determined by the combinations you craft. The simplicity of this system hides a surprising degree of strategic nuance. Every new upgrade or ability slot forces you to consider not only what action you want but how often you want it to appear. The randomness inherent to rolling a die becomes a tactical tool rather than a h…

Playtime would be 10h longer if it included the demo, which i played a lot. I really wish Steam had a middling review option, but i'll be optimistic and veer towards positive. But this game could use some small adjustments Pros - It's like a chill Slay The Spire which autobattles - Decent amount of different powers (die faces, works like cards). - The building blocks for a really fun game is present everywhere. - The visuals and story are very fun and have a loving, handcrafted feel. - It has a very good demo! Maybe even too good of a demo! Cons - For something that's supposed to be a roguelike, it has very little replayability. You reset to your default build every stage, but every stage is equally long and just has different, harder enemies to deal with. And, the real kicker, you can't go back and replay old stages. I must emphasize, THERE IS VERY LITTLE REPLAYABILITY. The way the final stage is setup makes this even worse. - Very short. Because i had played the demo for a few hours to master the game, i could complete the entire game from a fresh save, playing casually, within the refund timer (2h). I'm not going to refund the game, but i will say, i was very tempted, but i d…
