Altheia: The Wrath of Aferi

what a beautiful little adventure this game is, I really enjoyed the experience!! its a charming mix of action, exploration and puzzle solving, with a gorgeous fantasy world full of colorful environments and mysterious places to discover. the story is really nice and the characters are adorable, while the gameplay keeps things simple and fun with platforming, combat and different puzzles to solve along the way. its not a very long game, but i think thats actually perfect for this kind of adventure, making it a relaxing and enjoyable experience from beginning to end. definitely a lovely indie gem for anyone who enjoys cute fantasy worlds and casual exploration!!

Im not a review kinda guy but man I had to after playing a few hours of this game. The positives! Art style is really pretty. Feels like a Ps2 gen kind of variation of Breath of The Wild. Thats it! On paper, the ideas are neat but man this game needs a few patches to get there. You can essentially call this a polished turd. I hate to say that to the team who developed this but the game is really unpolished. Audio either cuts off with its voice work or the music just stops. Sometimes they'll overlap another far too unbalanced. Ive had various times where certain mechanics froze or didnt work. I had to reload the game a few times either. Its very irritating. I can tell this is one of those just wait for the patch kinda thing but unfortunately? The publisher and most likely, the development team havent shown any activity since probably a few months after release. I tried reaching out to them in the discord but again, roughly a year of inactivity. So sadly, I dont see this getting any more work done onto it. Which is unfortunate and kinda upsetting? I see the ideas and the potential but man- The bugs and the jank with this whole game bring it down below the ground. Skip this fel…

A nice experience! Altheia: The Wrath of Aferi is a small italian indie game that reminds me of older PS2 Action Adventure titles, one made much more recently. The game's first few hours are a bit weak, but it managed to grow on me. The gamelay and the storyline are well made; they both start very simplistic but eventually do evolve meaningfully through the adventure. Artistically the game is very pretty, tho few bugs across the advenute were hard to ignore. Overall Altheia is an "alright" experience; a charming passion project that made me go back to the 2000s gaming.

I'm recommending this game, but it's very unpolished, even for a indie game. The combat is clunky, bugs happen constantly, the audio is all over the place, the checkpoints are so badly designed and the story is not well told. Usually I'm very forgiving with indie games and find some problems even part of the charm of being indie, but this game is a festival of problems and I'm only recommending this because it's a fun zelda-like when it's not breaking. If you think you can overlook all of this, go forth and play it, if not, stay away.

cozy adventure game.

More buggy than my house and my parents leave the back door open 24/7. I was able to work around it all though just like in real life.
