✦ AI summary

The Long Journey Home is a challenging slow-burn sci-fi roguelike that players find conceptually interesting with deep lore and high-stakes resource management, though it's held back by tedious manual navigation mechanics and occasional technical issues like cursor bugs. Some appreciate its unique idea and complexity as a gem for those seeking something different, while others find the execution falls short compared to similar games and the gameplay loop becomes repetitive after a few hours.

A single small change would've made this game good: add an optional autopilot for navigating between planets and landing on them. It's way too annoying to do it manually. Also unrealistic, because even the 1960s tech could do it in real life. If not possible, please reduce the fuel consumption by x10.

I am a little bit sad that this game got some bad reputation. If you take your time to dive deeper you will find a real interesting gem here. It is also really interesting to watch on youtube what ideas the devs put into this. I know it may not be everyones cup of tea but when you are looking for a different kind of game, I would really recommend it. I wish more devs would bring fresh ideas like this.

Yeah, great idea. Not too great of an execution, tho'. I've played this type of games for a lot, like, Starcom, but this game, although does have all the elements there, doesn't even sniff it from afar. I am still gonna recommend this game to anyone who wishes to spend hours on a cool lil' roguelike/roguelite, it's fun to play but effectivelly get's bored after a few hours.

If I had to describe this as accurately as I could... it's a slow-burn sci-fi roguelike. Gathering resources is dangerous and has costs, Jumping between systems has costs, and you are in the eternal battle of slowly 'bleeding out' while trying to make it back home. It's intense in its moments of what you are willing to commit to or if you need to abandon the most ideal or efficient way to make the next move. Sometimes selling more precious items and treasures you'd like to keep for the sake of having basic resources or purchasing medical supplies. The game has teeth and pulls no punches if you aren't attentive, or make the wrong commitment. There are storylines upon storylines and a universe of backstory to see on your way back to earth and i think this game is well worth the struggle it provides.

Playing with M&K, the cursor would frequently get moved and stuck to the top left, making it literally impossible to play. I doubt my setup is unusual, so I have no clue why an issue like this made it to ship.
