SPAZ 2 is a downgrade in every possible way the early game is boring the ship‑building feels half‑baked and it completely lacks the charm or fun of the first honestly just play SPAZ1 or one of the many better games in the genre that came before (Rogue Galaxy) or after (Avorion)

Where's my S.P.A.Z.3? 😕 Really, this was one of my favorite games I always end up thinking about, and recently went back to. It does so much right. The strategy, the RNG, the AI feeling like actual people you can care about, or hate, and this was well before the AI slop era. Even with a lack of voice line variety, the execution is done so well, that it makes me appreciate each character, even when they share the same line with a different voice. I almost never re-play games. Once I finish a game, I consider it dead, done, nothing left to experience. That being said, I guess I've missed games like this so much, I felt compelled to go back, play something that felt fun, and engaging, even if it didn't have the latest fancy graphics. I really couldn't say enough about this game, an under appreciated gem, but I don't want to get into spoilers for anyone who hasn't played it. Simply if you like a creative strategy war game with an excellent sense of humor, and you haven't played this yet, well, why haven't you? Really, where's my S.P.A.Z.3? This one does not feel anywhere as good as the first. Much more janky with a learning curve that feels much more difficult.

Having grown up with SPaZ, this game was a blast! It is very different from the first, but I think thats a great thing. Much more ambitious and open. The core gameplay was more enjoyable.

A cautious thumbs up for this one. I had fun with it for a bit, but imo it has some balance problems, and the early game is kind of brutal too especially if you're new to the game. Once you get going though, it's fun to customise your ship build (although the interface is somewhat clunky). Don't play it for the story either it's kind of bland.

The game tells you exactly nothing, then allows you to die in the tutorial, ending your run with permadeath. The developers should have thought for one second what that would feel like to someone with limited mobility, or someone who needs to guess what direction the developers had in mind for "normal" controls when they programmed an "invert Y axis" option.
