I'm going to be honest here. The story isn't bad. Every storyline is interesting and overall unique to each character. There's occasional overlap, but that's typical and expected in any otome, especially because the underlying base of the story has to be the same to work. I played this kind of blind. I bought it during a sale when it was, I think, half off? With minimal read through on what the story was about via a reddit forum recommending otome's on steam. I used to love historical otome's when I was younger so I thought this would work well for me. Now that I've finished all the routes/achievement's I have to say that it unfortunately doesn't. The age difference between three out of the five love interests are plain old uncomfortable. Chojiro (23) is seven years older, Goemon (26) is 10 years older, and Hanzo (33) is 17 years older than her! THE MC IS 16 YEARS OLD! Not to mention that Chojiro isn't only just 7 years older, he's also her cousin! That watched her grow up! That feels plain old wrong. I tried this one blind and had to struggle to finish the prologue, and barely made it to the end of the chapter 1, after which I gave up. I don't know if it gets better, but what I saw was pretty atrocious. The group feels like the most incompetent ninjas in the world taking their mission like a road trip and vacation. Characters act like idiots so someone else looks smart by comparison ("we should stop there" "but why? we're not tired" "we're running faster than normal people and it's dawn and we'll look suspicious" "wow how incredibly smart of you teacher"). Constant annoying banter, comedic scenes that make everyone involved feel even more incompetent that they would otherwise, which is a hard feat (a ninja deciding that it's better to just smash vegetables with her weapons when cooking and wrecking the kitchen of their hideout? really? because aha female character who's bad at cooking? please kill me). At some point they send one of them back to the village with a letter only for him to come back... with a literal child. The girl who had been crying when they left. This game was really well written, and I really enjoyed playing it. I played it on the steam deck, the controls were pretty straightforward, and not too hard to figure out. I recommend this game because it got me so invested, and some of the routes made me emotional, and others were very interesting or lovely. I love a guide when it comes to visual novels, and there is a pretty decent one.

i am a little ashamed that i played this as much as i did, taking into consideration how bad it is... the art and idea looks good enough but then you start playing and the more you read the wilder it gets.... lets start with the fact that you can romance your cousin that basicly raised you. sopposedly he always treated you like a sister and saw you as family so what the hell... then you have a slightly problematic bodyguard, so theoritically this should be the best route right? [spoiler] well unfortunatly this is the saddest and most depressing route of all, where nearly everyone exept you dies... [/spoiler] then you have he's brother (my favorite route) who is basically just a [spoiler] yandere and i can appreciate that even if he did some crazy sh*t it was actully kinda funny.
