Assassin's Creed 2

Assassin's Creed II steps up it's gameplay compared to the first of the series and it started a lot of trends for future games (for better or worse), and the story is expanded, but I wouldn't say for the better. Everything about combat and climbing and everything gameplay in my Assassin's Creed review has been splendidly turned around with this game. Combat feels familiar but improved, with more fluid and responsive swordplay. Climbing is so much better, no longer does scaling the houses and towers feel linear and punishing should you miss an input. It's faster and once again more responsive than the original, making for a fun and overall more relaxing experience (because I'm not blowing steam out of my ears from how annoying the movement was before). Stealth is slightly better from the original, but unfortunately not by much, I still found myself fighting through most encounters due to the lackluster mechanics. Other smaller mechanics are added to improve the gameplay, like hirable factions to distract enemies or hide from them with, but it also comes with a lot of additional side content the likes of which you would find in the later games before Origins. I honestly think this is the best AC game

Assassin's Creed II is a pretty, historical fiction epic that proves that you can spend 15 hours trailing people behind beautiful Italian streets. Ezio is the best assassin.

This was the first game that I have played for the AC franchise, and I have been playing it off and on for years, starting when I was a kid on my Dad's PC, and even then all I really did was free-run on buildings and do the parkour for the Assassin Tombs for my Dad because he hated it. I did get this game on my own account and have still played off and on, but never really progressed past early Venice. I hadn't beaten it before and decided last week to start a new save to experience the game as a whole. - I collected all paintings, weapons, armor (including Altaïr's armor and sword), feathers and codex pages - I discovered all treasure - Completed side missions courier, beat-up, race and contracts - Completed the main story I was able to complete all of this in probably around 25 - 30 hours, but I used a map to obtain feathers and marked them as I went which certainly cut the time down. I highly recommend using a map if you are wanting to collect everything without losing your mind.
