The Last Stand: Aftermath

A roguelite was not the direction I would have pegged for this franchise, but it is a welcome change nonetheless. I'm just glad to see this franchise carried on nearly two decades since its inception. The game makes it immediately obvious the genre of game you're in. You will literally die in your first two minutes playing this game (which actually came as a bit of a shock to me). Dying is not the end however, as you immediately start again as a new survivor to play as. Each run, you make it as far as you can in the story mode, then try again as a new person if you fail to reach the end of the line. Once you do finish a run, the game provides replayability in the form of difficulty modifiers as well as a continued storyline for you to keep going if you want. TLS Aftermath picks up years after the events of TLS Dead Zone, where the titular Dead Zone has been sealed off from the rest of the world to prevent the infection from spreading. Survivors now live in a colony and you play as one of many volunteers infected with a new strain of the zombie virus to go to a camp known as "The End". From here, you go out on scavenge missions to mark valuable assets to loot and to pass back any …

I like it. Simple, repeatable and great for handheld

Very cool game

When I was younger, I played the last stand games on the web. Kongregate, im pretty sure. Then I discovered that it was on steam, and a newer 3D version! I had to cop, and it’s actually pretty fun. I typically get bored fast with these sort of genre games where you have to survive and venture out to get supplies etc. but I have quickly become addicted. At the time of writing this, I don’t have that much time logged but I look forward to beating the game. :)
