Nexomon: Extinction

It's like a certain pocket-monster classic (you know the one Im talking about), but with better graphics and lots of humour. Would definetly recommend.

Solid creature collector with fun monster designs and an enjoyable world to explore.

The first game was a good start to get into a new monster taming game, and Extinction continued what it did but enhanced it further. That's how I like to see it happen personally. Like with the prequel, the story starts kinda tame and then shifts towards a serious setting quickly. It gets some depth here and there, not on JRPG levels, but especially the second half of the game made things much nicer for what's happening there. I was pleased with what unfolded there. The fourth wall jokes and shenanigans give the story a good mix of the serious type plus adding its jokes here and there, balancing it out in a way I personally enjoy. Should you not have played the first game, you may want to do that first as you'll see connections to the prequel within this game. Visuals are nice, almost all NPCs you battle having their own, unique artwork like it was in the first game. Effort being put into the little cutscenes you come across, the world looks colorful and has different areas to go with themes, looking very fine to me. If there we're a "meh" option between recommending steam games or not, Nexomon: Extinction would be a ringer. It's not a bad game at all, in fact it's a perfectly fine poke-clone. That being said.. it didn't leave much of an impression with me for the hand full of hours I played. In fact I actually forgot I owned this game after some 4-5 hour play session. The characters are charming, the monster designs are unique, but none of them really stuck with me. If you're a fan of the monster catching genre, I'd say wait for a sale, and give it a shot. But I wouldn't expect this to be your new favorite, by a long shot.
