I've played quite a few Pokemon-like games such as TemTem, which I dropped for some obvious reasons, as well as others on different websites. I was looking forward to this one because I really liked the art style and QoL features showcased, but I couldn't get into it. Things I experienced in my hour of playtime: -The game took a weirdly long time to install and uninstall. I'm not talking about actual download time, I'm talking about the fact it got stuck at 99% for almost 3 minutes doing something until it decided it was done and hit 100%. Then when I uninstalled it, it took almost 5 minutes. May not seem like a big deal, and it really isn't and I know this is an Indie game, but I've seen games 20x the size of this one uninstall faster. -The art style, while the main thing I liked about the game's images and trailer, in reality did not look that great while playing. The Coromon sprites are objectively fine but while actually playing the game it just looked...off. Maybe it was the really animated sprites combined with the PNG backgrounds that threw me off, but the sprites also just looked a bit muddy with their colors and it was hard to tell what exactly I was looking at fo…1 found this helpful
The Demigod of Water vs A coughing storm cloud I found on a remote island somewhere in the Bahamas (aka THE GOAT) 8/10
The new pokemon game is great :D No seriously, it's basically just like the old DS pokemon games. Great on Steamdeck if you enjoyed old school pokemon DS P.S The reviews complaining about the puzzles being the worst part of the experience are completely justified lmao. Every time the normal gameplay loop gets interrupted by these poorly designed puzzle sections I wanna slam my head into the wall, the rest of the game is of acceptable quality and is good for the price, but these mandatory puzzle sections are just annoying. I guess the variety is kinda nice? I've found a few of them somewhat fun but the rest were a pain in the ass.
Having not played a Pokémon game since Pokémon Red back in 2000, I was surprised by how enjoyable and rewarding the game felt. I'll have to try more games similar to this. My only caveat is that I sometimes experienced double inputs while playing with a controller.
A good game that differentiate itself from pokemon with many mechanics that help the worldbuilding. Really hoped for more content.
Dope art, lovingly crafted, neat customization options, a DIY difficulty system. Danger Blahaj starter option. <3
