In NORTH you play a man who applies for asylum in a city filled with strange creatures and strange customs.

Dealing with the issue of the contemporary refugee crisis while at the same time being deeply rooted in a classical cyberpunk atmosphere à la Blade Runner, NORTH features a dark synthpop soundtrack, a sprawling mega-city and weird monster-like inhabitants.

The gameplay is very straightforward and mostly consists of exploration and simple puzzles. The main difficulty is to understand what you have to do in order to get asylum. You've come from an foreign land in the south and find yourself lost and confused - a confusion you convey through letters to your sister back home. An important part of the gameplay, these letters help you understand your tasks while at the same time moving the narrative of the game forward.

NORTH is short (20-40 min) and comes with a full soundtrack (8 songs).
Short, abstract walking sim. Better to watch this one.
The visuals and atmosphere look great at a glance, but that’s about the only praise I can offer. The exploration is too vague, and you’ll probably have a hard time figuring out what to do without a guide. It’s not terrible, but it’s not my cup of tea either.

I think it's unfairly rated, it's not perfect but I do love the brutalist structures and the abstract aspect of the whole thing

It´s good. A short little experience (about an hour to 90 minutes max), which seems surreal at first, but in a certain sense becomes very real as you progress. Now I do have to warn you, the game can seem strange and confusing, even some basic familiar things such as an Escape menu are missing, but I am very sure that is exactly the author´s intention for the chosen subject matter. You operate in an unknown world which seems strange, unfamiliar and completely foreign, as our first-country nations would seem to someone coming form other worlds. In my opinion a very good idea with an execution which fits perfectly. But be prepared to be confused, and do not be afraid to explore while playing this. The soundtrack and graphics are right up my alley, for me a 10/10 on artistic choices in this game. I will give you just a small bit of advice: At the very end, click on the mailboxes, that is something that confused me a bit too much. But otherwise prepare youself for a very unique and original experience.

NORTH is a surreal first-person narrative experience that transforms themes of immigration, isolation, and identity into a strange cyberpunk nightmare filled with symbolism and emotional discomfort. Rather than functioning as a traditional game focused on action or progression, it plays more like an interactive psychological journey through an unfamiliar society that constantly reminds the player they are an outsider. The experience is short, minimalistic, and intentionally cryptic, yet it leaves a powerful impression because of how effectively it creates feelings of confusion, loneliness, and emotional displacement. The story follows a man fleeing from the south in search of asylum within a massive futuristic city located in the north. Instead of finding comfort or safety, he enters an environment ruled by strange customs, oppressive systems, and bizarre social expectations that are never fully explained. From the very beginning, the city feels cold and emotionally detached. The player is surrounded by towering buildings, distorted inhabitants, and unsettling architecture that creates the sense of stepping into a place completely disconnected from ordinary reality. Every interact…
