About Collapse: A Political Simulator

✦ AI summary

Lead a political party through a turbulent 1992-2004 post-Soviet state, competing for power, managing internal conflicts, and steering the nation through economic and political crisis. Navigate the complex interplay of government factions, global powers, and public opinion to realize your political vision—or watch from opposition as others chase their dreams.

Collapse: A Political Simulator

  • is a grand strategy game that takes place in 1992-2004. You take lead of your own Party in the face of the total devastation of one of the fictional post-Soviet states in Europe. Try to realize your (or someone else's) political dreams in the shaky arena of this dilapidated situation. But first, you should at least get some important state positions, or do you want to stay in the opposition all your life without seeing the "captivating star of happiness"?

Features

  • Immerse yourself in the seething cauldron of politics in a fictional post-Soviet republic from 1992 to 2004.
  • Lead one of 7 political parties, compete for power with others and solve internal conflicts.
  • Take the reins of government, lead the young republic in this turbulent time, or criticize the government while being in the opposition.
  • Determine the internal and external course of your country, balance between different groups and world leaders.
  • Look for ways out of the economic and political crisis, while not completely losing the support of the population and state elites.

Or maybe the time has come for the state to become You?

Well, try it!

✦ AI summary

Collapse: A Political Simulator offers a robust sandbox experience with emergent political gameplay that rewards experimentation, appealing especially to players interested in left-leaning politics and intricate systemic interaction. However, the game is significantly held back by poor UI design, opaque mechanics, translation issues, and lack of clear tutorials, making it frustrating and unintuitive for new players despite its strong core concept.

Compare to other political game simulator, this game is underated. My suggestion is that you just buy the Suzerain game, it's better in terms of mechanics, UI and storyline selection.

I was hoping for a game like suzerain that was more interactable/sandboxy. While I can see some of what I wanted, it was though an opaque and blurry lens. Translation issues, UI issues, and mechanic transparency issues are all holding this game back from what I beleive it can achieve with it's robust core. And I do believe that the game is robust at it's core. For example I had a hard time even figuring out how to get elected, then I managed to do so by getting good relations with the church and then bringing the church up during debates. It was cool to figure that out all on my own, but I still beleive that the game would be much better and much more enjoyable if there were paradox-style nested tooltips explaining how every mechanic interacted with every other mechanic. (I still haven't even figured out how to formally ally with a faction!) TLDR: Bad translation, bad ui, bad mechanic transparency issues. It needs better UI and modern-paradox style tooltips.

I formed a cult of trotskyism and, directly quoted from the game, "before the form split, the 4th International was reformed" as a certified trotskyist, i can conform we will split into 12 different sects, like this game predicted

i love the concept so much, even if the execution is a bit buggy and initially unintuitive

Collapse: A political simulator is a game I love but found frustrating. Before I get into my gripes here is my timeline as the PNP (Nationalists): 1992-1996: Conservative Presidency + PM that pursued mild reform, partial privatization, and trading with both the US and RF. Supported the breakaway military conflict and worked closely with the Communists. 1996-2000: PNP won the presidency + PM and pursued high authoritarization and communist policies. Highest GDP growth and market a record life expectancy. Left RF organizations (Such as CSTO) and aligned closer with the US. Brutally repressed minorities. Changed to a Presidential Republic. 2000-2004: Multiple presidencies + high reform only to be ♥♥♥♥♥♥ last second by the Communists who brough back authoritarian policies. This was my first game and it was a blast. My BIGGEST gripe is their is literally no way to garner support besides random events and rallies (Which are once a year). You can through laws and ilegal actions but its not easy at all.
