About Screamer

Lights blur. The crowd whizzes past. Your helmet rattles against the roll bar and the competition switches into overdrive. Tears stream from your eyes and the race moves into extreme speed. Tears of sweat. The same stuff that's seeping off your palms and onto the steering wheel. Get a grip. You're sliding into a turn at 200 miles per hour and centrifugal force will only carry you so far.
This is velocity-driven, pedal-to-the-metal arcade racing. Strapped into a personally chosen made-for-the-Autobahn racing machine, you'll scream to redefine fast in this winding 3D ride of pure fun.
 • Great, addictive, arcade-style gameplay
 • Driving mechanics so unrealistic they’ll make you wish you could powerslide like that in real life!
 • If you didn’t have a Pentium processor back in 1995, now is your chance to finally play this game!

Steam Deck player. I have linked the game to ProtonExperimental, otherwise it will not start. Then perfectly playable on the Steam Deck. I have arranged the keys differently, it does not work well if the gas and brake are under the four-point key together with the steering. It's an old game that will give you a headache, it's still enjoyable if you like old dos racing games with arcade vibes.

I was eager to play the new Screamer of 2026, so decided to check this one out. The game is quite fun, I really enjoy playing these oldschool racing games, figuring out their quirky handling and gambling with their chaotic physics. I'm sure that in 1995 this was one of, if not the best home playable experience of an arcade racing game (that is until Ridge Racer came out at least). That being said, I ended up refundind just about when I got to the pro championship. It simply crashes too much. I even tried to fix it with the community guide, but it didn't work. Whoever is publishing these old games is probably just paying scraps for a dead liscence, removing it from abandonware status and porting a barely functional producto straight into windows 10/11. No controller suport, no rebindable keys, no widescreen aspect ratio, no fine volume adjustments. Nothing. There are new games that came out this year that are cheaper, more polished, have greater replayability and online features, that one could be playing instead of this. I enjoyed it and would have kept it if it were a respectful port, but as is, I don't recommend it, even if you are an oldschool racing game fan. Now off to spend m…

The 2nd entry is improved in every way and I love it, but it's still a fun game that oozes 90s arcade charm. Also very cool graphics and animation for 1995

Screamer is still an addictive blast — pure arcade energy with those wonderfully unrealistic powerslides that made it iconic. I loved it back in the day, and revisiting it now reminds me why. My only real frustration is the lack of proper gamepad support; I just can’t quite get comfortable with the controls anymore. But aside from that, the charm and speed are absolutely still there, and I like it more than I expected.
7/10
[EN]
The Original
Reminds me of the times I spent hours playing Cruis'n World on Nintendo 64. The championship mode lets you rank up in the leagues until you reach the Bullet League, where, after you win it, you unlock the Bullet car, the fastest one in the game! It's your typical arcade racer, it's fun and with nostalgic visuals and soundtrack. It's definitely very satisfying to drift on the curves! [PT]
O Original
Faz-me lembrar as horas que passava a jogar Cruis'n World na Nintendo 64.
