WHAT A SHMUP GEM will run on anything, Excellent in every way it needs to be.2 found this helpful
Its remarkable how in many ways this little game managed to pre-empt the Vampire Survivors craze in such a unique and compelling way. The price is perfect, the mood is perfect. Sell some steam cards and get it for yourself or a friend, you won't regret it.1 found this helpful
This game is fantastic, and worth significantly more than its list price ($2). The store page description of "Bit Blaster XL crossed with Path of Exile" is absolutely on point. The mechanics are satisfying, the terminal based UI is a fun conceit, the skill tree is huge, the soundtrack is excellent, and the buildcrafting is a lot of fun. The biggest problems this game has are its instability at high projectile counts and the fact that skill points do not refund when you want to try a new build. I was able to get all of the achievements at time of writing; it's a lot of fun. I still have ideas I want to try. If you even remotely enjoy this sort of game it is absolutely worth picking up.1 found this helpful
BYTEPATH, developed and published by a327ex, is a minimalist arcade shooter that builds surprising depth out of extremely simple mechanics. At first glance, it looks almost barebones—a small ship, a scrolling field of enemies, and a constant stream of projectiles—but beneath that stripped-down surface lies a system-driven experience that thrives on experimentation and incremental progression. Rather than overwhelming players with complex controls or flashy systems, it focuses on a tight core loop and expands outward through customization and build diversity. The gameplay is intentionally straightforward. Your ship automatically fires, leaving you to concentrate entirely on movement—dodging incoming threats, positioning for survival, and navigating the increasingly chaotic battlefield. This design removes the need for precise aiming and instead emphasizes spatial awareness and timing. As runs progress, enemies become more aggressive, patterns more dense, and the margin for error smaller. The result is a steady escalation of tension that feels both manageable and intense, especially as the screen fills with hazards that demand constant attention. A kind of game I wish there was a lot more of: focused on build creation, but not long and grindy, and not permadeath so you get to incrementally improve and experiment without being beholden to RNG like so many roguelikes. The game itself is far from a perfect realization though. Graphics are of course very bare bones, and I'd say the game at the heart of it(slightly fancier Asteroids) is as well. I'd prefer something more there on both counts, though I can definitely respect the minimalism.
The core gameplay is alright, although the general scale and speed makes precision aiming challenging. Obviously the strength of the game is its absurd passives system, which gives excellent replayability. Making a winning build took a little trial and error but was very possible without using a guide or any build advice. Very strong visual style that can border on overwhelming (which I think no one expects from an Asteroids-style game). Definitely good value for the price and clear care put into the design. Feels like an indie hit from a decade ago in all the best ways.
