The Shapeshifting Detective

Neat idea but it's kind of a chore to play and the acting really didn't grab me. The dialogue choices felt random and I don't like the RNG roll at the beginning for who the killer is.

No idea why people gave this game bad reviews. I found it interesting. It was like a movie, I didn't feel as if I was doing a chore. Not sure if I would replay tho, but apparently You can play again and have a different murderer, and skips scenes You already watched. A charming, cozy detective video game. Featuring likable characters. With the intimate atmosphere of a small family-run hotel in the British countryside. A psychological game of cat and mouse. Long interrogation sessions with suspects, and with your boss, the detective constable. The game is based on a brilliant concept where you can enter the bodies and minds of specific characters and use that to your advantage during the investigation. I like all games from this particular studio. And again, this one totally absorbed me. I recommend it for patient players with a knack for detective work. There’s no violence or fast paced action like in Hollywood Movies. This is rather the old-fashioned detective work that Scotland Yard use to do. Feel the danger and suspense of whether you’ll manage to track down the criminal in time and successfully. I did. A well made UK game, and I really enjoyed it.

This full-motion video game is a murder mystery where you play as a detective who can shapeshift, hence the name. You are sent to a small town where a local woman was murdered just the night before and you have to talk to the various residents hoping to learn clues. Because you can shapeshift, you can talk to them as other people hoping they will give up information they wouldn’t say to a detective, which is the big hook. The game isn’t very long, but there are multiple endings, as the murderer is chosen at random. There are not a lot of characters and even fewer potential murderers, so there’s not a ton of replay value, but it’s enough to be worth picking up.

I love this game, its my favourite FMV from now on. It has a true Noir atmosphere all through the game, heavy psychological mystery and occult themes. Great timelines and a lot of replay value. I suggest that you listen to the short horror stories on the radio because they add to the atmosphere
