About Stories: The Path of Destinies

✦ AI summary

Battle a mad Emperor and his raven army as Reynardo, a roguish ex-pirate navigating a vibrant fairytale world through branching storylines where every choice creates a unique narrative path. Master fluid combat with magic swords and special abilities while uncovering multiple endings across wildly diverse scenarios, from whimsical adventures to cosmic horror, with the power to rewind and discover the true path to victory.

Stories: The Path of Destinies is an action RPG set in a vibrant fairytale universe filled with floating islands, majestic airships, and colorful magic. Reynardo, ex-pirate and unintentional hero, suddenly becomes the last line of the defense against the mad Emperor and his countless ravens. Can he come up with a plan that won’t blow up in his face, for a change?

In Stories, each choice you make takes Reynardo into a unique narrative. From tongue-in-cheek takes on heroic adventures to dark, Lovecraftian scenes, Stories’ repertoire is as diverse as it is action-packed. But Reynardo’s fateful decisions won’t always come easy: Sometimes retrieving a weapon lost at the beginning of time means sacrificing the life of an old friend. But with so many choices to make, so many potential dire destinies, wouldn't it be great to be able to come back in time, learn from your mistakes and find the one true path?
Stories: The Path of Destinies now runs on Unreal Engine 4.18 with enhanced graphics and better performance!

A charming action RPG with fun combat and a story that changes based on your choices. The colorful world is full of personality and replaying different paths never feels boring. A great game if you enjoy fast paced combat and branching narratives.

Short game, but fun game. No boss-fights however. Also be aware you'll be going through the same stages multiple times. But overall pretty solid short little adventure with a lot of replay value.

Omensight is really an improvement all around, but this one is still well worth playing, a clever synthesis of roguelite and visual novel. The combat is fluid and exciting---and really makes you feel like a swashbuckling hero---and the characters are charming and compelling. I got the true ending in 5 tries, which I think might be the fastest possible (since there are 4 key insights you must find before you can do it), but I may yet go back and try some different routes just to see what else might happen. Honestly I think the one part I didn't[/i[ really like were the pop-culture puns and fourth-wall-breaking jokes by the narrator. I think that part could simply have been dropped.

Great narrative can get a bit repetitive but if you pace your playthroughs you will have a good time with this game.
