Torment: Tides of Numenera

This world is strange, beautiful, and incredibly talkative. I get the feeling even a random rock on the ground could tell me the secrets of life, the universe, and everything it's been through for the past 3000 years.

If you're a fan of world building and fantasy literature. If you're tired of tropes and want something different, a world that is creative and unique and you gain enjoyment from reading. Play this.

After 22 hours of esoteric nonsense, I just couldn't take it anymore. There is way way way too much dialogue and lore thrown at you. The main storyline gets sidetracked by way too many random and obscure side stories and characters that it just makes it difficult to track anything. I ended up following a guide and ignoring most of the walls of text just to realize that I was just playing the game as an attempt to just "get through it". When a game becomes a chore and a bore there is just no reason to continue so I stopped. It is just too bad as the game has a lot of potential but it just gets too bogged down and gets in the way of itself. Some people complained about the combat but I found it to be okay. The problem comes around when you want to "heal up" your party. While resting does heal your party it has big negatives to the game as time continues on and quests can fail due to this passage of time. The game punishes you for taking a rest. To me, this is the worst aspect of the game mechanics. I never did quite understand the raising of "color" stats as that is most likely an end game outcome but I will never get that far due to, well, just not caring anymore. I also used AI …

Ready to kick back and do a whole lot of reading, conversing, wandering, and all that other RPG goodness? Then by all means, visit the Ninth World and find your destiny as a discarded body of a god, meet a girl who carries gods in her pockets, and play god if you so desire. Overall a good time, flows with the tides (pun definitely intended), moments of ups and downs with a variety of quirky characters to keep you bobbing along, some neat conflicts to solve in turn-based fashion, no real lows but didn't hit major highs either for me, absolutely a grab during sales for those on the fence.
