About Phoenix Tales

Something strange is happening in the land of Rydanthia. You arrive in the town of Northern Cross and quickly discover things are not what they seem. Merchants tell stories of nearby towns that are deserted. There are frightening creatures lurking in the forest. Can you solve the mysteries surrounding this threat? Can you live to tell the tale?

A CLASSIC ADVENTURE GAME
At it's core, Phoenix Tales is an adventure game. Modeled after classic point-and-click style games of the 1990's, you'll have to use your wits to solve the puzzles.

RPG ELEMENTS
Gain experience and level up your character as you progress through the game. With individual stats and several weapon / armor upgrades to find, Phoenix Tales is an RPG-lite experience too!

A UNIQUE COMBAT SYSTEM
While you'll need your brain to solve the mysteries plaguing the town of Northern Cross, sometimes a little brawn comes in handy too. Master a unique combat system that requires both timing and strategy!

MULTIPLE PLAYABLE CHARACTERS
Sometimes being a hero requires help. Along the way, you'll meet a companion who will prove to be quite helpful on your quest. He has his own play style, attributes, and attacks.

A FULLY IMMERSIVE AND DETAILED WORLD
Using real world locations and motion capture actors, which are then "cartooned" into a unique art style, there is plenty to see, do, and explore.

pros +solid adventure/point and click + good dialog + a combat system that i feel is better for when your controlling 1 char then the standard turn-base system. if you were controlling 3-6 chars at once though it would be hectic. + the rpg element adds something more to the already existing genre. + can play in a single sitting as long as you dont get stuck. neutrals = its a short game but alot in this genre are and its a fair price = music is nice and fitting = no rekeybindings but this game doesnt really need them cons - using steam screenshot button advances the dialog so make sure you read the dialog before taking a pic. i havent tested the ingame screenshot button though so cant say further there. - i dont care about achievements but for those achievement hunters there are none. other tidbits of info. the game is a good point and click adventure game with added rpg lv which gives you +10 health and +1 attribute point per lv. combat isnt turn-based but instead meter based. your bar fills up over secs. different options cost different amounts of the meter. combat is pretty simple and just adds to the game more variety then your normal point and click. you …

I don't play many games anymore, but I've played lots of point-and-click style games back in the day. This game feels like it draws inspiration from Quest for Glory, which is a huge plus to me. The dialog is great, especially the merchant in town, and the puzzles make sense. I haven't finished it yet, but I'm pretty sure I'm close to finishing it.

The game was good but quite short. It took me about 3 hours to complete it. Worth the money I paid for it.

This is one of those games that really needs a neutral rating, I'm only thumbing it up because it filled my nostalgia needs for a certain retro adventure/rpg game series. For $2.99 you get a game that takes ~2h to finish and scratches the Quest for Glory itch. The game has maybe 14 screens, with straightforward puzzles, and extemely imbalanced, janky combat that isn't too offensive; just spam the attack button, everything else is a waste of time. Puzzles are straightforward and there's nothing too convoluted, although I never figured out how to get the mud for the potion of heroism, game was beatable without it.

Really cool game man! I got it for free from the devs some years ago when i was super into their youtube channel TheAdventurerer's guild. I don't know so much about the idea that enemies just... respawn when you re-enter an area. A spawn timer on them would have been quite helpful ngl. I was making good progress and that progress was abruptly interrupted by me not being able to figure out where to go and getting caught in an infinite respawn loop. I forgot the way back to town, couldn't make my way back. I hope this game is still listed, its actually really cool! I can tell ya'll put alot of time into it, and its just what i needed to get my motivation back today. For 3$ though i'd absolutely at least give ti a try, its awesome and fun and yeah. :D
