Obey the First!'s assessment of this game isn't necessarily wrong. If we make the playing field of Steam completely level, I'd generally agree with the majority of points. Firon is an RPG built with an RPG making toolset, using assets that may or may not be original, with a fairly basic high school story line. If we compare Firon to RPGs by major studios, it fails to hold it's own. If any of this matters, it's probably a game to avoid. I'll provide a brief discussion of the game but from the perspective of comparing it to other titles from the hobbyist RPG market. However, as an amateur project made by what appears to be a solo developer, it's actually not that terrible of an experience. The story generally tracks and is coherent, there aren't any major game breaking issues, and there's a fair amount to explore. The art style, while rather generic, is at least coherent. It's above average in the pool of amateur and hobbyist RPGs, even if we only consider the titles on Steam. If you're a fan of RPGMaker, VB6-based engines, GameMaker, BYOND, and related hobbyist engines, this one is a worthwhile one to add to the collection. Especially as a f2p title.

Firon is one of hundreds of low effort retro-pixel JRPG ripoffs spamming the Steam catalog. Like all RPG Maker "games", this is essentially a bunch of low quality assets (plus some truly laughable hand-made pixel "art") coupled with a cringeworthy high school anime club weeaboo fan fiction. This crappy JRPG construction kit effort follows "Firon" through a mystery when strange things happen in a badly made 2D retro pixel town. Firon is a template/asset flipped construction game. It's been slapped together lazily with the craptastic RPG Maker construction kit (a really old version, which is why my heuristic analysis picked this up as the hamster RPG maker). I originally thought this was made with OHRRRPGCE, the construction kit that seems to exist for one purpose and one purpose alone... to make RPG Maker not be the absolute worst construction kit plaguing the gaming industry. But no, the "developer" couldn't manage that and had to use RPG Maker, making this one of literally thousands of RPG Maker asset flips infesting Steam.
