About Chronique des Silencieux

Set in 1970s southern France, you play a rookie private eye tasked to dig out the secrets of a stubborn old man. Think on your feet while you follow your leads : ask questions to witnesses, detect their lies, hypothesize why and finally confront the silent ones running from their past.

A Strange Request

You are entrusted with the peculiar case of Victor Dousvalon. This old history professor is known for shrouding his past life in secrecy, even from his own daughter Catherine. But an apparently harmless accident motivates him to hire you to help Catherine trace back the steps of his life.
Why can't he simply tell her his own story?
Why does Catherine, who has been so distant with her father these past years, suddenly want to know about him?
Your first case will decidedly be a delicate one...

Anything Goes to Break the Silence!

Get engrossed in the handy work of a detective : search through family papers, ask personal questions, call at inopportune times, and be generally nosy.

Head First Investigation

No watching characters think for you, this is your time to prove your deductive powers. Choose leads, follow them to the end or stop when you think you’ve got the right idea. But you'll need to be convincing to push the silent ones to talk!

A People’s History

Piece together the lives, the choices, and the tragedies people are running from and walk a mile in their shoes. Discover History, not from a bird’s eye view, but from the ground, where folks have to continue living and coping, each in their own unique way.

I really, really gave this one a chance. There's just so much to like about this game. The setting is unique - post-war France that's not Paris. The characters are interesting, the aesthetic is pleasant, and I'm always a sucker for a mystery that requires you to connect little pieces together to form a coherent solution. But this is a mess! In more ways than one. It's buggy, and the UI is very clunky and hard to use. The story makes some sense, but during your investigation you'll have names dropped out of nowhere, names you never learned, which can spoil quite a lot - since you see them in your notebook. The question "why X wants to hide that they're related to Y?" appeared way before my character figured their relation out. You find a mystery portrait in a room - "Why does X have a portrait of Y?" I have no idea who this person is, and you're already giving me a name? You're supposed to learn about this later. I don't know. The solution system also is very clunky. In theory, it makes sense: you have two nouns and a verb. But the game is very, very picky about what order exactly you're supposed to learn things - so, for example, I knew that X is somehow helping Y, but I didn't k…

I'm a fan and sucker for detective and mystery games and loved the look of the art style. It's a good game so far and all, but unfortunately it's got plenty of bugs to it. From texture issues, to clicking issues. Sometimes when coming from the journal my controls would be completely locked and i'd be forced to restart the game. So I would recommend it at a later time(and would be happy to change my review when the game is more polished) when everything is a lot better for players.

Very interesting game for those that enjoy a whodunnit. The graphics and animations are extremely enjoyable. The mechanics when making hypothesis and accusations are unique and rewarding.

Excited to start playing Chronique des Silencieux! I've heard good things about this game. So far, a unique detective game with a cool art style and a rich story. I'm liking the game's puzzle solving. I'm looking forward to diving into the game world more.
