Tower Knight

This is a very entertaining play on the deck building format. There are currently 50 unique levels that offer a new puzzle to solve. The maps are also procedurally generated so there's variety in attempts. I've only just started but considering this was on offer for 60p it's an absolute bargain! Frankly this is worth the full price if you know you like these kinds of games. Honestly I wasn't expecting much out of the game given its price and I feel like I've found a hidden gem.

I'm the developer of Tower Knight. This is my personal account. Over a year later I came back to Tower Knight to see how it holds up, and I like it. This is unique in the tower defense genre.

Intriguing. An innovative tower-defense deck-building hybrid. You place towers and walls on a hex grid to keep your knight safe from swarms of enemies, and at the same time try to score a victory by enclosing enemy towers with your fortifications. Possible actions come in the form of cards drawn from a deck you draft over the course of a match. There are a total of 40 levels, each with a different set of starting cards. The game is rather challenging, enjoyably so, though RNG can play what feels like an oversized role in later levels. Some stability issues surface when the map gets large – glitchy behavior of cards in hand or spawning enemies, and eventually the game can softlock. I would advise that, during the final few levels, revealing new hexes be kept to a minimum.

Can't say that I like it. Funny how often, on the second level, that I got complete hands full of unplayable card. I find that games are often about the decisions a player can make, and the balance between random chance and skill. This game fails on both account. I have tried a few times, and far too often I get games where I am simply incapable of doing anything. It's all very lame.

The game has interesting mechanics. I would love to see steam achievements and other modes being added. At the moment it is a little bit too easy once you set up the right towers in the right places

This game was addicting. Easy to learn. You gradually get better as you play. It's oddly satisfying : )
