About Chains of Fury

This game is not for you if you want to save the world and become the hero everyone needs (or even deserves). Move along, we have an anti-hero bad-ass over here, ready to compete for the title of The Meanest Bastard Ever. His testosterone level can only be measured in the Fury scale, his death toll is unknown and the amount of bullets he'd shot is uncountable. He's a hired gun. His former clients had put him in prison instead of paying him for a job well done. He's furious, he's skilled, he's got mean weapons and an even meaner mustache. It's nothing personal. It's just business.

Chains of Fury Volume I is a unique Boomer Shooter. Inspired by Hellboy and Lobo comics along with XIII and Void Bastards games, it aims to give players a one-of-a-kind gaming experience.

Heavily influenced by retro FPS games it brings the character design inspiration of Duke Nukem 3D, movement guidelines of Quake and DOOM, and unique comic-book style graphics based on 90's hits such as Lobo. Nearly three decades on, the spirit of 1996 is somehow still with us, and we are not letting go. Neither should you.

KEY FEATURES:

  • Destructible Environment - keys are for wimps. Smash your way through.
  • Hidden Secrets - loads of easter eggs & secrets wait to be found.
  • Retro Inspired – XIII, Duke Nukem 3D, DOOM, Quake. We shoot for the top.
  • Kick-Ass Arsenal – shoot from a distance or punch ‘em from up close? Yes.
  • Dark Humor - we'd love to be able to say we're friends with Lobo, but... He'd pull our teeth out with his hook. At best. We hope. Sorry.
  • One-Liners Galore – no self-respecting bad-ass can kill without a steady supply of quips. And you have plenty of self-respect.
  • Fabulous Moustache - being a mercenary does not mean you cannot look dashing and handsome like Peter Krylov.

Warning: in its current state, "Chains of Fury" is not just bad. For me, it is effectively unplayable. As far as I understand, the game was released unfinished because of a conflict between the publisher and the developer. At this point, it also looks like the game is no longer supported, so I would not expect any major fixes. YouTube videos show that the game can technically be completed. In my case, it cannot. Judging by recent reviews and forum posts, similar issues are affecting other players as well. The main critical bug is the complete absence of ammunition drops. At first, I played for a while without even realizing that something was broken. Then I started getting suspicious, checked some YouTube walkthroughs, and saw that enemies were supposed to drop ammo. In my game, they do not drop any ammo at all. I even tried switching to easy difficulty, thinking that maybe it was tied to the difficulty setting. It changed nothing. In theory, regular enemies can be killed with brass knuckles. This requires abusing save-load, but it can work because the enemies are incredibly stupid and not very aggressive. You can kite them by hitting, stepping back, and repeating the p…

The "Mostly Negative" reviews here kept me away from buying 'Chains of Fury' so many times, but I saw it on Fanatical for $2 and just had to give it a shot and, well, it's definitely not good. The comic book aesthetic with it being an FPS is what initially drew me and probably everyone else in because it's just something that meshes well. The presentation at first seems pretty good alongside some good music will then give you a false impression because the gameplay. well heck even settings is where everything just falls apart. The gunplay itself for like the first 20 minutes works well enough, it's a little slow, but kicking down doors as your met with an alien's guts exploding like a party popper as you flick off the rest of your foes while being in a furious rage feels kinda fun until one of the biggest problems arise..... WHERE ARE MUH BULLETS?! In my 2 playthroughs on both 'Easy' and 'Normal' I could not find any bullets, with 'Normal' it says you can only pick up bullets during 'Fury,' which sounds like an okay challenge on paper until you realize that no more bullets show up, like yes some guns do have unlimited ammo during this, but no more additional ammo showed up for me…

It's sadly too buggy right now, I did manage to beat the first level, but only barely since ammo doesn't drop from enemies like it's supposed to.

Very frustrating game most of the time. Limited ammo. Games are supposed to be fun, not frustrating like another job. I work enough as it is. Even on Easy level, I could not come close to beating the final boss. I beat 7 of 8 levels. Close enough I guess.....

I was paid $100 by a friend to beat this game. Still not sure if it was worth it. A small list of the bugs or results of awful design decisions I encountered in this game (also, the game is abandoned and these won't be fixed): - Ammo drops are nonexistent apart from in a few levels. This instantly makes the game much harder and makes guns not worth it half the time. This is the biggest one. - I have fallen through the world or glitched through walls so many times. - If you load the game or die, all enemy labels disappear and they all say (DESTRUCTIBLE). - At one point the narrator wouldn't stop saying one-liners and the volume wasn't governed by the in-game volume settings - A lot of things are mislabeled or in Russian (but in the Latin alphabet?) - The game has no idea what the levels are called. The name in the level select screen, the issue name in the comic cover for the level, the end screen and the achievement name are all different. - Wind generally tells you where to go except for when it leads you to random secrets, one of which I couldn't get back from and couldn't even go through because the levers didn't work - Health drops disappear randomly - Beating levels …
