It's easy to fall for this game, for all its flashy graphics and destructibility: but once you realize how shallow it is, you will regret believing it held promise. In the end, it's not much more than a glorified demo. Like most roguelite FPS, the gameplay loop is a variant of Doom Eternal: stagger an enemy and kill it for items, repeat. But here the big idea is that staggering is done through specific physics attacks (grenades and throwing object with a sort of gravity gun). This creates a bottleneck in the loop, forcing you to weaken every enemy with cooldown abilities before actually shooting it, which just seems forced and repetitive in the long run. Devs think this will incentivize the player to use all of their weapons, but the point is that it forces an artificial rotation that simply kills fun.

Have had this game since it was new pretty much and watched it slowly evolve with consistent updates. It's super fun, and allows for a lot of cool builds, but I held back from reviewing it due to poor performance previously (I used to have to run the game on low, now I can comfortably run it on high/ultra (no rtx) so it's improved there a lot. Overall very fun and pretty game worth picking up if you like the genre.

This game makes a really good first impression: gunplay seems pretty satisfying, the mods you can pick up seem at first glance to be interesting and offer a lot of variety. The physics are impressive for a solo-made indie game. And it never gets BAD, exactly. But as you get past the first couple of hours, the seams really start to show, and it becomes clear that this is a much smaller project than it appears to be. By far the biggest crime is that every run feels more or less identical. You just can't get away with that with roguelites, in my opinion. There are very few enemy types, and in terms of how you engage with them it feels like even less. Like there's "small scuttling robot that explodes" and "larger scuttling robot that shoots at you" but fighting them feels more or less the same. The mods you get from chests seem like they have a lot of variety, but in my experience a lot of them are either not very good or just have niche use cases. Some are actually a legitimate downgrade from your gun's standard-issue functionality. You also frequently will get stuff from chests that's a duplicate of what you already have, or a lower-tier version of what you already have, so the il…

Gets a bit hectic sometimes!

By no means a bad game, just not for me. To much stuff crammed in, messy, tedious. Steep learning curve. Hard pass.

After 25 hours of gameplay inside VOID/BREAKER I can say with no hesitation that this game is 100% worth buying, regardless of what the current price is (It was 20$ when I got it). I managed to beat all current zones and unlock all of the different weapons and was able to draw this conclusion. The sound effects are both satisfying and surreal, the gunplay feels smooth and engaging, and the storyline so far is amazing! I am really looking forward to what the developers come up with for the next major update and for 1.0!
