Wonder Boy Returns Remix

WARNING: This is NOT a bad game, just a glitched one, but you should be able to get over a good number of glitches. I found the solution for the majority of the issues, but that doesn't make things suddenly ok BEFORE playing you must do two things otherwise the bugs and problems I describe below will occur 1. Set your monitor Refresh Rate to 60Hz 2. Ensure the game's resolution matches your monitor's. Then when the game starts, alt tab out of it and then alt tab back into it because by default it runs on a higher refresh rate, this, in most cases causes it to run at the same Refresh Rate (in this case 60Hz) as your monitor. If this doesn't work, just set it to Windowed mode, then back to fullscreen while maintaining the same resolution as your monitor. After that, Wonder Boy Returns Remix will work as intended and you won't have disappearing platforms and other issues, at least I didn't see any up to World 4 anymore. HOWEVER if you don't change your monitor to 60Hz, the following happens: 1. Platforms will Spawn in unreachable areas or spawn in the wrong position altogether making it impossible to jump on 2. if the player stands on them during the split second they disappear …

So, uh... Okay look. I had some decent enough fun with this game during the 5-ish hours it took me to 100%. I can't take that away from it. But I don't think I'd really RECOMMEND it, not at 13 entire dollars. Okay so, context. Wonder Boy. The first one. Arcade game from 1986, the one starring that blonde caveman boy that goes around throwing stone hatchets and starves to death if he doesn't eat for like a minute. Decent-ish for its time, if a bit frustrating in difficulty at points and with really repetitive music. This is a remake of that. Originally in 2016 it was released as simply "Wonder Boy Returns" (not Remix), promising a remake, but it wasn't actually a remake at all, it was pretty much an entirely different game with a different story, levels, and bosses, and starring a different villain (some red demon dude). Apparently that did SO badly that they delisted it and made this as an apology instead, with the actual level design and bosses (or... boss, singular, repeated across every world with rising difficulty) from the original arcade game. Not like the original. High frame rate will break the game. Performance issues. The game feels nothing like the OG. Id Prefer the PC engine version the most. I don't recommend this version. Even it's free don't do it not worth it.

Couldn't get unstuck, only way to get unstuck was Alt-F4 and need to be pixel perfect for some jumps.

There's clouds missing on the second stage. You can't make the jump. I've read some also have the same problem and nee to mess around with settings ... but that's not good enough in this day and age. Fix it!
