Contra Anniversary Collection

I need a friend from 90gen gold days

So, I got hold of an old CRT, grabbed a Ps controller, grabbed a cold can from the fridge, plopped down in a chair, and launched this opus. ...and then I got screwed! - there's no screen resolution option (none at all!) - small list of aspect ratios, with only suitable option is 4:3 (my monitor's native format), in witch it is displayed as a pathetic enveloped mess. - It's impossible to disable scanlines (which my monitor already has!). - No sound options ! (And the sound itself is of disgusting quality, heavily compressed and lagging) - And to top it all off, the Sony controller isn't properly supported (what ? it Was released for ps4 and 5)... I understand that this is an adaptation for modern consoles and PCs, but damn KONAMI, there are still enthusiasts out there who strive for the most authentic experience possible. I mean, these games are about to turn fifty! They run perfectly on any emulator for ages, any of them can and should be configured for the desired format, resolution, and key bindings... Why does KONAMI treat connoisseurs of timeless classics with such disdain? I don't understand. The evening turned out to be ruined. Don't buy this collection, play these…

I bought the Contra Collection purely for the nostalgia, and it brought back more than I expected. Contra was one of the earliest games that pulled me into gaming. I still remember playing it with my father and siblings on that old cassette game, sitting together in front of the TV, taking turns, arguing over the controller, and trying again and again to beat those brutally difficult levels. Back then, it was just a game. I never knew those simple evenings would become memories I’d treasure years later. Playing Contra again now feels like stepping back into that time for a moment. The graphics are dated, the difficulty is still unforgiving, and the audio ports have some issues, but none of that matters much when a game can bring back memories this vividly.

finally after 14 year i beat contra 1987

As awesome as it ever was, but very bad sound issues makes it hard to play.

Great classic game.
