This is called 'A musical story'. I expect the story to pay off just as much as the musical elements like the title suggests. This is more like 'A musical slog'. The story is too slow for the gameplay. You slowly unlock story scenes by playing rhythm sequences correctly. But sometimes you will be playing a very difficult rhythm, listening multiple times, and then your story scene will be: a guy peeing, or people laying down, or a person driving. Or even less interesting things than this. Compare this to games like 'Cytus' or 'Deemo' which are story based rhythm games that have much more story content after beating difficult parts and won't lock you into a looping sequence if you make only one mistake. Either make story more rich or gameplay more forgiving. Otherwise, it's wasting your time. Edit: Also I watched the end of the story online (I was on chapter 22 before I gave up, I was certainly patient enough with the most difficult parts of the game before quitting). Amazing story, and the artwork is absolutely beautiful. I absolutely love psychedelic rock, so the game’s atmosphere and universe really appealed to me. The only major problem is the delay between the music and the rhythm. Why does the player start few seconds ahead of the music??? It’s such a strange design choice for a rhythm game and because of it, it doesn’t really feel like a rhythm game at all.. It’s honestly awful. The gameplay is completely out of sync with the music, which ruins the natural timing and makes everything feel unintuitive. It’s especially frustrating for musicians..(really). At first, I thought it was my PC struggling to run the game properly, but then I realized that apparently everyone has this issue. Have you actually tested the game? It’s sad.. because this is really the only thing that ruins the experience. I’ll finish the game for the story, but it’s definitely a struggle. I won’t be going for 100% completion, though... The rhythm mechanics are just far too frustrating when they’re so noticeably out of sync with the music. I would recommend it for the story, but unfortunately, I can’t recommend it as a game, despite how much I respect the hard work…

There are a couple of solid tracks in the game but the gameplay is just lackluster. It's more of a stylistic Simon says game with 3 buttons: left, right and both arrow keys together. Riff plays with arrow keys once and you have to mimic it perfectly, else it loops. If done correctly, the audio will loop in the background and the process will repeat with a new instrument loop. Do this multiple times per chapter (24 in total /2 hoursish). The lack of combinations note wise makes it extremely predictable/ repetitive and ends up feeling more like doing captchas of are you a robot? rather than playing a game. Visually it's a pain since it doesn't tell you where you are in the loop unless you mess up/are late. This can become annoying when the instruments you mimic enter at odd times. Which means you end up waiting for the loop to end several times so you can 100% it to progress the story. The last level was decent since you just play the full song and don't have to play it perfectly. Unfortunately, they didn't do the whole game that way. let´s quickly talk about the elephant in the room first. It´s a rythm game. So if you don´t have rythm or a high tolerance level you better use the assistant mode to make it a not so frustrating experience. That being said now let me mention ths is a fine piece of art and you really should play it. It´s worth the full price but if you get it on sale pick it in any case. This game has the groove.
