I first discovered Mound of Music at IndiePlay 2024. Among the many games showcased at the event, rhythm games were rare, and Mound of Music stood out as one of the few. This piqued my curiosity, so I decided to give it a try. While this game is categorized as a rhythm game, it’s far from traditional. As a long-time rhythm game player and a professional programmer, I’m reviewing this game from both perspectives. First of all, the game does an excellent job of creating a serene atmosphere. The visuals and sound effects work together to tell a story about a world after humanity has vanished. Much like Lanota, where the goal is to restore color to the world, Mound of Music also centers on this theme of bringing back the original colors of the world through exploration and music. Now, let’s dive into the main gameplay. The game features small puzzle elements where players collect items and unlock fragments of words, gradually piecing together the full story. Since I’m not particularly focused on the narrative, I’ll skip the finer details here. with eons into the future, music still connects us all rythnm side of this game is super solid along a workshop and selections of many classics from everywhere the vn side is short but its story is alright, could of been more detailed but the exploration part is kinda boring that killed the pacing its nice
