About Undying Lantern
Undying Lantern is a third-person action game set in the fantasy world of Zagrat. You work for the Holistic and Abnormal Unit for Nabbing Tricksters, also known as HAUNT. Pursue, Preserve, Persist. That is the Haunter code.
Tricksters are dangerous criminals who will stop at nothing to escape justice. They hide in places only a Haunter can reach.
Haunters use a power known as Luminancy. Their source of power comes from the lantern that hangs from every agent’s hip. Understanding and mastering these abilities is paramount to overcoming the dangers you will face.
Everyone has a story, and every Trickster has a weakness. It is up to you to piece together what is going on. Only then will you have a chance of taking down your target.
You will face difficult odds that will require you to think on your feet. A fight with a Trickster is rarely a straightforward duel.

It's complicated. This isn't a bad game, but is very rough. The exploration is interesting, with nice enviroments and filled with lore, and the puzzles are very throughful. The problems come with the movement, collisions and combat... they are a bit janky. Sometimes attacks don't hit, sometimes bosses hit you with no explanation and sometimes you fall through the floor, nothing game-braking but a bit annoying. I really like the mechanic of finding the weaknesses of the bosses, even so you can still fight them souls-like style but, with the jankyness is just too hard. I played the game in normal but halfway through I had to start over on story mode to finish it. Some improvements/not so good things: -it would be nice for the interactable objects to be highlighted like the lore ones (there's some fireflies things that do so but are easy to miss). -story mode is nice (maybe making the player invincible is too much), but just an "easy" mode would be better, one where the player can take more hits and there aren't that many projectiles or attacks. -talking about projectiles, some bosses shoot too many of them, filling the screen of noise you can't even see where you are, especialy the …13 found this helpful
So the thing about souls-likes is that USUALLY, it gets tiring every time you die to enemies or a boss and having to repeat everything over and over then you get frustrated because of the exp / souls you dropped and lost. You end up having to repeat the running, fighting etc. This is NOT that type of game. Even with just 2hrs+ in the game, if you enjoy puzzles, having to NOT fight any enemies and when you've gone through the area fight the area boss - this is the game FOR YOU. This is a game for those who enjoy non-straightforward boss fights where you have to think about how to kill them and not just simply hack & slash until the boss dies. I also love how the developer places an importance in the puzzles, doesn't spoon feed you the answers and that you really have to think or write down somewhere what you know. I love as well that apart from the lore building the world that the lore leaves breadcrumbs to help you. No spoilers. So you gotta make sure you read everything if you wanna immerse yourself and figure out how to beat the game quicker, better and/or a little bit easier. Will post a more extensive review when I finish the game. For a one-man team to develop this game…9 found this helpful
