Elderand

As a fan of metroidvanias, platformers and soulslike games, this one really hit my sweet spot! It controls very fluid and has just the right amount of difficulty. Every time I encountered new enemies, I actually had to learn them instead of brute forcing it. You get just the right amount of healing. It felt perfectly balanced to me. The music fits the theme and aestethics very well too. The game doesn't let you pause the text from the story though, that could be a problem for slow readers, or a problem for fast ones too, as I am usually finished with reading it way before it even comes close to disappearing. Just a slight negative imo. Fast travel feels really nice. No unnecessary animations. You click on it and you're there instantly and can move. I really like that! However, I am a little displeased with the map. You can not zoom out enough imo, to quickly scan over it to search for paths you have not taken yet. You can't put markers on it either and every single upgrade, or even just puzzle, questline etc. is called "point of interest". Sometimes you have no idea if you've already done it, if there is a quest thats going to do something later, or if you're going to get anoth…

A souls-like metroidvania may be what they were going for but this attempt is all wrong. The game is difficult to survive in and grinding levels barely, if at all, helps. The limited stock on potions, arrows, and sub weapons is debilitating and just adds to the frustration. The controls are mid, the enemy and level design are acceptable. It's just frustrating instead of fun.

A little more metroidvania and a little less souls-like, please. I'll check back after another patch.

this one has attractive art and a gameplay loop that starts out strong, but it gets really repetative and the combat goes downhill really fast. I played it to 100% map a while ago and decided to give it another run because I never got true ending, but the reason I never got true ending was becase it became less and less fun over time and eventually became miserable. skip this one, it isn't worth it.

It was okay, bit short, but enjoyable for what was there. Good brain-off game.

This quickly turned into Castlevaina once i bought the whip. 10/10
