It's unique. Feels very samey at first glance, but truth is, it's simplistic AF and it's basically a short Metroidvania with horde-based combat. Some puzzles are really good, but it's pretty bare bones overall. Decent for $5. Not really worth more than that.1 found this helpful
Sundered is well within my top 50 games of all time, possibly even top 25. A game that has few flaws and even fewer equals. Sundered is a metroidvania. You play as Eshe, a woman wandering a wasteland when she finds what she’s looking for, an underground military facility containing all sorts of eldritch secrets. Someone messed up, and brought something greater than us into this world, and we all suffered for it. You will either end that suffering, or become the arbiter of it. There is very little dialogue in this game, all of it is done by the things/s beyond the veil of reality, who speak to you in a deep, raspy dialect. The tale the monster spins to you is one of human ambition and folly. In an effort to consolidate more power, the humans of the Valkyrie Base connected with a different fold of reality and accidentally merged it into their current world. There are three main areas to the game. The first is Valkyrie Base, filled to the brim with lasers, moving platforms, and mechanical enemies. The second is the (not so) Holy City of Eschaton, an area teeming with corruption, monstrosities, barriers, and tight hallways. The final area, and the one I have slight issues with, is …1 found this helpful
A pretty hum-drum metroidvania, and unfortunately local co-op does not save it.1 found this helpful
Neither the gameplay nor the story is good enough to bind you to the game and make you finish it.1 found this helpful
First time with a roguevania (I think) and honestly kind of over the rogue side of things. My belief is that the Hades franchise is the best to ever do it … But, this was very good! Great art style, great progression à la a traditional metroidvania and compelling/rewarding enough to keep you going through the story
This game is very fun and incredibly aesthetically pleasing. I was never the biggest fan of eldritch but this game really does it for me. Another banger from Thunder Lotus.
