Space Defender

Shout out to the dev. Suffering from day one patch issues and they picked the WORSE day to go 1.0. A Friday.

I've been enjoying it so far.

I love games like these. Very impressed with just one person developing it. There are a few minor issues however still fun. Looking forward to future updates and content! I like to listen to audio books and play games and this is a perfect fit.

Pretty good for the asking price, nothing to write home about, but enjoyable for what it is without overstaying its welcome. I give it an 8/10.

I hate leaving a bad review for this game, as the developer means well and by all evidence is a really good guy that just wants to make a good, fun game. But it just isn't balanced well at all. Good games have a concept of ramp built into them. They introduce the game, the mechanics, the goals, and then they give you things to do that provide slight challenge so that you get the concepts down before the game starts throwing much more major challenges at you. When done well, this gives the player meaningful interaction with the game and its systems while also providing them with a solid starting point to where they don't feel slowed down or forced into grindy, repetitious tasks that cook the fun out of the experience before they can even have any. [b]Space Defender: Frontier Squadron cooks the fun out of the experience within the first ten minutes of play.[/b] You get handed your choice of "easy" missions in which you're either: - going up against wave after wave of repetitious combat in which you fight off ships that can see you and fire at you from longer distances than you can see or fire at them with weapons that far outclass your own weaponry AND your ship's defenses, or …

If you love top down space shooter, this is a great little title!
