Ralf's Adventure: Aztec Mystery is a top-down action-adventure game with puzzles and platforming. This game is inspired by home console games from the '80s and '90s, but uses modern design sensibilities.
Join Ralf Kennedy In His First Adventure, and Take up the Bat!
Ralf's Mother is an archaeologist, and brought you along on an expedition for your summer vacation.
While exploring a temple, she falls deep within its chambers, and is trapped.
The local legends speak of Mictlantecuhtli, the God of the Dead, and this is his temple!
As the star player of your local baseball team, take up the bat, and smack any creepy-crawlies that lie between you and your Mother!
In this game, you will navigate labyrinthine temples, finding relics that will prove critical to solving the ancient puzzles.
As with any ancient temple, there are traps aplenty, and you must keep your wits about if you wish to have any hope of staying alive!
Descend through 8 different temples, fighting Guardians, and collecting their golden idols to open the way to Mictlantecuhtli's deepest lair to save your Mother!

Unfortunately I ended up not enjoying the game at all. The gameplay borrows heavily from StarTropics II. Controlling not-Mike is a bit of a pain. The bat's quarter-circle arc sometimes making enemies directly in front of you impossible (especially when facing right) so you're forced to take on enemies diagonally in the one corner you can hit them. Every weapon I obtained had a recurring problem where not-Mike would lock up while the animation plays out meaning you really need to commit to your attacks. Projectiles are not much better. In the case of the kunai (dagger?), the weapon will continue off-screen a ways meaning its a long wait until you can attack again. If you're into StarTropics for the quirky story, you'll find none of that here. There is no dialogue or NPCs. Not even an overworld. In a way its a lot like Metroid where you'll move between areas that are unfortunately all just palette swaps of the hub. Some of the c…11 found this helpful
Game scratched an itch I didn't know I had. Like Star Tropics 2 and original Zelda had a love child. Only complaint would be how short it is to complete. Would have loved for there to be more.1 found this helpful
