Call of the Elder Gods

I had some glitches the first time I played it, and it took several attempts and three playthroughs to finally get through the game. It was completely worth it, and I would definitely play through it again. This is a worthy sequel of the first game. Initially I was a little underwhelmed by the world-building, but on further playthroughs, there are a lot of hidden details that are really well done. I do not think you need to have played the first game to appreciate this one, but it makes the story a lot more impactful if you have. The game itself was gorgeous, and I had no visual bugs beyond the occasional odd lighting here and there. In my opinion, the puzzles are more logical, and I only struggled with two of them. The story is more ambitious as it spans a greater period of the main character's life, more locations, and real-world events. Great game, loved the ending I received, and the credits were a wonderful bonus as well. I would just beware of some of the bugs, although hopefully they have been resolved now that the game is a few months old.

Initially I was very into it, both the characters and premise were engaging with some challenging but reasonable puzzles. Unfortunately as it went on it started to drag a bit until I was forcing myself to do the puzzles. While a great set up the build up is rather lacking, the introduction of some villains and lovecraftian elements all feel somewhat hollow to a point where it feels like just moving through areas. Some of the puzzles are great, a neat challenge that are fun to solve and require some thinking, despite this many area tedious requiring you to search a fairly sized area and move about it to various different hints or contraptions to activate, fine the first few times but having at least one in each of the 6 chapters started to become more annoying than anything. Without a nice story to hold interest it felt more a chore to play. A few good elements here but it doesn’t come together into something I enjoyed playing. [h1]★★☆☆☆[/h1]

Love the storyline

A delightful puzzle game.

Loved everything about it. like the build in Hint system. Going to play the next one, can't wait. Love the story. Beautiful to look at. so many places to explore. I highly recommend it. Runs smoothly on my laptop.
