Gunvein

Probably the shmup I'd recommend to new players, especially since the tutorial is so well done. Art is OK, but the soundtrack and gameplay are killer. Fantastic game

Absolute master class in shmups, a game I would recommend to anyone interested in getting into the genre-- especially those who think they don't or wouldn't like it. GunVein starts by teaching you the basics better than any other shooter I have played, and it will quickly have you hooked with how smooth, satisfying and belligerent everything is. So cleverly put together, fast paced, aggressive, made with so much soul, and topped off with a KILLER soundtrack. Extremely fair and fun at the skill floor and truly relentless at the skill ceiling, offering a challenge that will put any (non-shmup) game you have thought of as "hard" to shame without ever being unfair-- even if it sometimes feels that way. Do yourself a favor and pick this one up, absolutely worth full price. The only modern shmup that even comes close is Blue Revolver, but I actually think I prefer GunVein!

Amazing game. But they need to patch in an achievement for getting Expert 1cc :(

Highway Chaos is the best shmup level theme I've ever heard

Gunvein is overall a reall nice game and I don't really have any criticism of it: it playes well, looks nice, sounds great and to ease in the new players the game has a couple of tuorials, practice mode and myriad of accessability settings. The game didn't grip me enough for me to try to become proficient at it, but perhaps a bigger bullet hell fan can get more out of this.

Took me 3 hours to get the intense 1CC, I wonder how long expert will take
