When I first heard about a slow-paced, atmospheric crafting game, I was immediately intrigued. The promise of no-rush, peaceful crafting gameplay with a creative carpentry system sounded like exactly the kind of experience I would love. Unfortunately, I can’t recommend this game in its current state. The main issue lies in the lack of attention to detail and quality-of-life features. The physics are unpredictable, with objects wiggling and jumping around for no apparent reason. One of the first mechanics the game teaches you is to grab objects from a distance. However, the items retain collision physics even as they’re summoned toward you at high speed, often resulting in chaos. Objects not nailed down go flying everywhere—sometimes even off the map. This makes it impossible to create neat little stockpiles, forcing you to stash everything in your inventory. As a result, the map feels empty and devoid of the satisfaction of organizing and tidying your space. For example, when I started the “Watch” scenario, I dismantled a crate and tried to store the nails in a container. But every time I attempted to grab something with my hand, the game struggled to register what I was trying t…3 found this helpful
It seemed to run fine, but I literally couldn't choose a save file. I tried stretching over to it, walking (both swinging my arms and the thumbsticks), tilting my head in the directions, pulling myself, and a combo of pressing/holding various buttons to teletport or jump. I might not have even really liked the game if it is just manually building things so maybe it's better this way. I was using htc vive so maybe it just doesn't like my headset1 found this helpful
I liked this relaxing game. The story was short, only 3 or 4 levels long, but you can craft more than that. As a programmer, I can appreciate how well the crafting system was designed. I hope this company comes out with more games.
Index Player: This game is absolutely charming! It has one of the strongest building mechanics I've ever seen in a video game, just shy of Valheim. It has all the building freedom, but lacks the structural integrity aspect. Everything seems to have the appropriate amount of friction, which is sorely lacking in many VR titles that utilise physics. The story mode is short and cute, and had a rather surprising ending. I've been tinkering in the creative mode which is hella fun. Suggestions for the Dev: 1: A toggle for 90 degree placement, and or snapping to other blocks would really help. 2: A hand/table saw/milling workbench for turning rough logs into a desired cut. 3: A pickax that can "mine" boulder objects in the scene (the texture shows what kind of mineral you "might" get. After 3 yeilds it becomes a normal texture and unresponsive until you complete a full day night cycle) Cons: 1: As an index player, the game was fully playable, but sound never worked (THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN RESOLVED) 2: It is way too easy to catapault items off the map. This happens when there is a pile of items and you accidentally summon the bottom one to you, causing a fantastically heartbreaking shower…
Works on Reverb G2, requires custom controller bindings. Land of Towers is a neat little VR adventure/crafting game about being a watchtower keeper in the mountains. The gameplay is satisfying and grounded in reality: you explore the buildings around and do some menial tasks to get to out of reach places and progress in the story. If you do not enjoy making minor wooden structures from planks and nails in VR, you probably will not like Land of Towers all that much. I enjoyed crafting, but mostly was playing for the atmosphere. And the game absolutely delivers on that part: night time looks and sounds amazing, especially near the ending. The game has some minor problems with AMD GPUs: during beginning of any torch burning there is a few seconds window, where the game turns into a slide show on RX 6800 XT. Other than that, it performs well. The devs even fixed an issue with AMD drivers, that I reported, in less than a week.
A chill, relaxing game, that still manages to be a little adventure because of the story, but that story unfolds at the player's pace. I don't know how far through it I am after 2.3 hours. It looks and runs great on a vive pro 2 with wands, the item handling is superb.
