For centuries, Zikverländ flourished under the watchful eye of Zik, the Sun God. However, the ambitious Turncoat Mage, Ahnglum, unleashed chaos by opening ancient portals, releasing alien moons and monstrous creatures. This brought the Nightfalls - a terrifying plague that causes madness and mutations during unpredictable eclipses.

Heroes are now summoned to stop the Nightfalls, overthrow Ahnglum, and vanquish the demon God he serves. Embark on an epic quest to reclaim peace and sanity in the once serene Zikverländ. Champions, rise and put an end to the darkness!

Meet Makino, the Winged Bear: a furry powerhouse in melee combat, capable of charging into the heart of enemy ranks with his enchanted warhammer. Able to withstand lots of punishment, he can also bring the pain when needed. When Makino consumes Madzik energy, he reverts to his animal instincts, leaping at enemies to maul them with his razor-sharp claws.

Deceptively adorable Veroline is a powerful spellcaster ready to devastate anyone in her way. She uses her magical abilities to control the battlefield and escape her attackers and when empowered by Madzik, she embraces her darker side and gains a whole new suite of abilities to strike fear into her enemy's hearts.

Switch between these mighty heroes and conquer any challenges thrown at you.

Set foot in lively handcrafted lands, filled with rewarding exploration opportunities. From wool to pencil, Zikverländ is shaped with IRL elements that bring a unique aspect to our game.

Madzik is an unforgettable adventure, where moon madness, cooperative play, and immersive story-telling fuse into a one-of-a-kind retro experience.

I want to enjoy this game. It's audio and visual elements are really charming, and the characters are endearing. Unfortunately I found myself getting too frustrated with the game. The combat is chaotic by design, so that isn't the problem. The problem I kept running into was environmental hazards randomly appearing and either dealing a ton of damage or stunning me immediately. There are obvious hazards like cannons and such, but I'm talking about a spinning ice turret just suddenly appearing, which kept happening to me as I was trying to aim an attack or right as a well charged heavy attack went off. There is no point to having a heavy attack if the game can just randomly destroy you with no warning. If you work to clear up enough space and position well, a heavy attack should be a just reward. I found myself rarely using heavy attacks not only because of that issue, which killed my characters multiple times, but because of another issue. There is no visual indication of any sort of cooldown on moves. A lot of times when I tried to activate the empowered form or switch characters, nothing happened because I was in some sort of attack cooldown that I had no way to tell I…

For just a couple of bucks, I quite enjoy this game! It's a nice little couch co-op where I can sit back and relax, whether I'm playing alone or with my girlfriend. The skill tree is well-designed, with passives that culminate in a satisfying skill expression. The lore is already very intriguing, and I can't wait to dive deeper into it. Don't sleep on this one, folks!

The game looked nice in principle, and the local co-op aspect was very appealing. However the game is extremely frustrating - as soon as the chapter 2, the arena gets swarmed with traps and environmental effects that freeze, stun and disable you, ALL THE TIME. You barely can complete combos before getting locked in mid animation, losing the attack. It would be fine as an extra challenge every now and then, but you lose control of your character all the time, and that makes it for a very, very frustrating gameplay. I couldn't complete 2 hours of it out of frustration. Hard pass.
