"Glitchers: Hack 'em Up" is a rather mediocre at best arcade brawler that looks like it was designed for consoles or mobile phones or something, but it's here on Steam instead, and wow, does it look ugly. But the ugliness is more than skin deep here. What do you do in the game? Well it's an arcade brawler, and a bad one, with stunlocks and crappy balance, and generally poor game design. No playtesting took place, so this plays even more unpleasantly than it looks, and that's quite some feat. The graphics aren't great. That's understandably be turn off for a lot of gamers, and it's a big contributor to the failure of the game to attract gamers despite having no up-front cost. Gaming is a primarily visual medium, and if developers want to succeed, they must understand that it's not an area for compromise. You deserve better than compromises. On the matter of pricing and value for gamers, most "free" games on Steam aren't really free. There's often nasty mobile app cash shops, or content locked behind DLC, or donations being requested, or any other number of shady pricing schemes that could mislead gamers, but in this case I'm glad to say this really does appear to be a full…
This game is an absolutely unbalanced, hot steaming pile of ♥♥♥♥. The core gameplay is not only repetitive and uninspired, but it's also outright frustrating due to one glaring issue: enemies that can permanently stunlock you. Getting stuck in a cycle where you're unable to move or fight back is not just bad design; it's outright disrespectful to the player's time and effort. The lack of variety in gameplay only amplifies the frustration. What should be engaging and rewarding quickly devolves into a monotonous grind. There’s no thrill, no sense of accomplishment—just tedium and irritation. Do not play, its a waste of time and disk space.
Nothing works. Can't interact with anything. Can't hit the test dummies and can't even get past the first "message" on the first level. Shouldn't be a surprise I suppose, given the sources of funding for the game and its content.
A waste of download data. Can't progress through anything, not even in training room.
