About KAMIKO

KAMIKO is a game styled around Japanese Shinto beliefs.

Fight as priestesses called "KAMIKO" and battle against demons while solving puzzles to make your way through the stages.

Look no further if you are looking for an arcade action game with a twist!

Each stage has several Torii (gates) which are magically sealed. Find a way to break all the seals to make your way to the stage boss.

Another fun and easy original created by indie games SKIPMORE.

✦ AI summary

Players are divided on this budget title. Those who enjoy it praise the tight, responsive gameplay, charming pixel art, solid chiptune soundtrack, and focus on smooth execution and flow rather than difficulty—making it a satisfying short experience for the price. Critics feel it's undercooked and lacks depth, comparing it to a game-jam project rather than a full release, though most acknowledge the low price point somewhat justifies the limited content.

This feels more like a game-jam game than a full release. I suppose it's not too bad for $5, but the game just isn't very good or fun. Read the other negative reviews, they do a way better job explaining. If you're looking for a better game, their other game is much more of a game.

If you are wanting a retro Zelda feeling experience with some simple combat and puzzles I totally recommend this one!

Three shrine maidens go stop forces of evil and purify the world with weapons bestowed by gods, as if shrine maidens do anything other than that. You explore each stage, defeating enemies and breaking seals so you can access the gates and beat the boss of each stage. The pixel art nice and the music is solid 8-bit tunes (with sound test). Its straightforward as one can get but it gets the job done in relation to the game price.

Recommending this one but with caveats. Going in blind, you can expect to finish the game in an hour. It's extremely tight and responsive and focuses on crisp playfeel above all else. While fast-paced, I would not call it twitchy or frantic. Each level is reasonably well designed, and all four bosses are engaging and complex without feeling remotely difficult. The unexpected and weird thing about Kamiko is that it's not a hard game, at all. But it invites you to see how crisp your execution can be. You feel incentivized to race around, wreck enemies efficiently and decisively, move onto to the next 'gate' or optional chest or unlockable door. You might lose to a boss once, but the task is really about perfecting your own 'flow' and feeling of deadly grace. I think to really 'get into' and appreciate Kamiko, you have to be at least a little interested in the perfectionism of it. All that said, there are severe diminishing returns to replaying the game with each character. The playstyle differences are pretty minor. Maybe worth it for a couple of runs, but most will not sign up for a third.
