I've only played an hour so far, but I really enjoyed it and definitely will be playing it more. The combat is very fun and challenging. Between dodging, ranged attacks, melee attacks, you have everything you need to take out most early game enemies without scrolls or books. Assuming you don't pull too many enemies and time your heavy strikes and dodges well. The hardest enemy I fought and killed with the default attacks was a minotaur, so I'm sure the bosses will require stronger weapons. I really enjoy the artistic style and liveliness of the the towns people. The little details give the game a lot of charm which is always one of the best parts of a good indie game. The pixel art also gives it that nostalgic feeling. Also I thought I was going crazy at first, but the blacksmith looks like Steve from Minecraft and I'm pretty sure the furnace he uses is from Valheim, but I might just be seeing things lol. My only gripe would be using the basic mana attack by pressing it repeatedly is a little annoying and would make my hand sore if I played for a few hours. A press and hold would be much better in my opinion. The mana attacks could then automatically fire at a constant pace until…6 found this helpful
Absolutely brutal and I love it. I knew I would enjoy it when my first cheevo popped up. Was having some difficulties with my first boss, until I discovered the heavy attack - I think it'll be a bit easier now. Been watching on Reddit. Nice to see it released. Fun game, and looks great. Planned to play for 30 minutes... Nearly three hours later here I am... Pro-tip: the old man in the town centre has ALL the tea.6 found this helpful
Is good. It's hard too, bosses are very tough, but that is something to work towards and makes the achievement an actual achievement. The keyboard controls aren't great, so a controller would be best.6 found this helpful
I was a play tester for Pixel Wizard. I liked it so much that I bought the game! Its fun to play, very entertaining. Plenty of different maps to explore, quests and achievements. A lot of different creatures to kill using your sword and potions and spells, and the bosses are pretty challenging. Theres also heaps of stuff to find, potions, spells and food, and gold so that you can buy all of that in town. A lot of work went into creating this game from a solo dev. And its awesome. I had to update my review since the updates were added. I love the updates! I can now make real progress in the game thanks mainly to the easy mode, which still has its challenges, and the map, which makes it much easier to know where to go to find things you need to do. The merchant is a great way to sell items you dont want, to get gold. The new items are pretty cool and I love seeing what they do. Over all the updates have made it an even more enjoyable game to play. Big thumbs up! Thanks for working so hard on your game, and making it good for everyone to play!4 found this helpful
I’m only two bosses in, but I’m already really enjoying it. The mechanics are straightforward and easy to grasp, but the game still offers a real challenge. The combat is fast, the world is fun to explore and every victory feels earned. If you're looking for a worthwhile indie game for in between, this is it.3 found this helpful
