Stop Dead

Pretty fun movement based game. Since it's still in early access it's hard to tell what the full release will look like but so far it seems promising. Sadly, taking a quick gander at the news page, the updates have become quite sparse thus I'm not very optimistic about any major changes. Besides a few bugs and glicthes, I have a big complaint about how the game stores high scores. Instead of putting them up on the leaderboard, each time you save your ghost the game creates a workshop item which is something I can't wrap my head around, who tf came up with such a dumb idea. I don't want to have hundereds of invislbe workshop items just because I decided to save my record for everybody to see. And the only way to delete them is via inspect element in your browser and finding the ID for each one. I guess buy at your own risk, I haven't finished the game yet but looking at the levels, I don't have many left to beat so I guess the whole thing takes about 3 hours.

The game is clearly abandoned, or at least not getting any communication from the devs in the last 6 months, and it uploads your levels as steam workshop levels inaccessible to you. My profile now says I have 72 uploads on the workshop. Very cool. The difficulty curve at the end starting with "Gap" is so atrocious that it made me quit entirely. Christ alive you really gotta playtest these better.

This game just doesn't have the juice. Movement doesn't feel as good as it looks, levels aren't designed as well as they could be to maximize flow and fun, and the art style doesn't make up for either of these. For a speedrun platformer, play Cyber Hook instead. For amazing first person movement shooters, play Severed Steel and Echo Point Nova instead. All 3 of these games are way better than Stop Dead.

Very fun Ghostrunner-like game. Especially worth it on a discount.

This game is a super fun speedrun-bait (or however this new emerging genre is called) and it plays sort of like a mix between Ghostrunner and Half-Life 2 levels revolging around physics gun. it has a very unique visual style, an interesting premise, good game feel, and when it all works, it works so well. Things are just so satisfyingly snappy and impact-ful. It gives you a great feeling of being this out of control glass cannon, moving at a 100 miles per hour, destroying enemies in your path, constantly on the edge of steering out of control and crashing. However, there's a lot of things that need improvement. Firstly, yes, there are some bugs here, which is to be expected. Most are minor, but there was a very odd one where the first real boss the game has wouldn't play a death animation upon defeat. They were just stuck there for me, in the middle of the arena, and I could pump more bullets into them and watch blood spats come out. Next, the longer the game goes on, the more nois-y and unreadable the visuals get with all the effects and flashing lights.
