About Lenna's Inception

A New Hero Rises

The Kingdom of ▜̴͈̔▕̴͜͝▯̴̳̈́░̷̪͗▚̷̪̆▒̸̣̓ is glitching. The evil Chairman of the Banker’s Guild has captured the Prince, opening the way for destruction at the hands of the Archangels. With the Hero eliminated, and the world horribly unraveling, reluctant tutor Lenna must step up to save the kingdom. But it won’t be easy--all she has to guide her is the voice of the deceased elder, and he seems to know more than he’s letting on...

Explore a dangerous island filled with dungeons, and defeat the eight archangels to bring order to a glitched-out kingdom in this top-down Zelda-like action-adventure game. Playable in 8-bit and 32-bit pixel art styles!

Features

  • Team up with a friend. Make peace with Shadow Lenna to enjoy the game in local co-op multiplayer!
  • Play again (and again). With two graphical styles, multiple endings, multiple boss forms, and procedural generation, you won’t see everything in a single playthrough!
  • Challenge yourself. Speed through the daily challenge dungeon with no sword, with only three hearts, or without taking a single hit. Show off a GIF of your playthrough on the connected leaderboard afterwards!
  • Recruit companions. Will you choose Henrietta, the free-range chicken with a vendetta, or perhaps Gourdon, the sentient pumpkin? (4 to discover)

I underestimated this little game so much. I had a blast when playing and completing each ending. Procedural generation was done so perfectly in this game, I even met new enemies in different seeds. Loved the plot, simple and satisfying combat system, many original bosses and also fun NPCs. I'm grateful that I found this game randomly and I didn't see any playthroughs before that, because this game offers quite a few surprises^^ I'd love to recommend this shiny little gem to anyone who's looking for an original pixel-art adventure. You also get your very own and slightly braindead chicken companion free of charge. (I'm sorry Henrietta, but you got me killed at least two times, you should be sold to KFC and roasted until golden brown.)

More than likely, if you're reading this over five years after release, you're here because of Cassette Beasts. So, put briefly: Cassette Beasts is a much better Catch-'Em-All than Lenna's Inception is a Zeld-'Em-Up. It's not bad, it's just not great. The game procedurally generates a world and dungeons like a Zelda randomizer, but the worlds don't really feel particularly different, because every item pretty much amounts to a new way to get around a different, specific one-tile obstacle, and the game just swaps those obstacles into the world in the order you're going to acquire the items to overcome them. Are there a bunch of rocks nearby? The next dungeon will probably be the bomb one. Do you see a lot of water? You'll get the swimming upgrade next. The dungeons themselves are also not particularly interesting, because they're built algorithmically. They often don't flow in a way that makes sense (for example, I feel like I got the dungeon map once I'd explored over 75% of the dungeon more than half the time), and just kinda feel like tedious checkboxes more often than not. The final dungeon is the only one that's handcrafted, and somehow that one feels worse, like it's pur…

The amount of genius in the design of this game is incredible, the humor is real, Lenna's cool to play, and there's genius Mechanics in this game that will turn your Brain into a Pretzel, and you will enjoy it. The Final Dungeon was especially mind blowing... no Zelda Game I ever played or know of ever pulled a epic stunt like that... :O

This game is absolutely my favorite game I've played in so long. I grew up on the OG zelda and this is something similar but also ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ amazing. I love the exploration, and story. The puzzles and combat could be a bit better but each world is generated on the spot so I get it. If you love old Zelda games than this is for you.
