Story:

The story of the game takes place in an underground research complex. As a result of an unknown incident, the staff of the complex has lost their minds and turned into ruthless monsters intent on killing anyone they meet. As he travels, Adam realizes that the walls of the complex hide questions that he would rather not know the answers to. The The story of Dualis take place in an underground scientific research complex and asks tough questions and requires players to make difficult decisions that may affect the story's finale.

Gameplay:

Dualis gameplay is a blend of stealth-action with survival horror elements. The decision whether to act stealthily, eliminating enemies silently, or to collect ammo and items left in the level and start an open fight is entirely in the player's hands. In Dualis, enemies are a deadly threat, especially when there are many of them, and each player will face a difficult choice in how to confront them. This dilemma gives the players to choose their own style of survival in each situation. In addition to fiery encounters, you'll have to call on logic to solve puzzles. This may be required both to progress through the story and to obtain additional equipment at critical moments. The refreshing contribution of puzzle solving adds a layer of depth to the game, requiring the player to not only be dexterous in firefights, but also to think strategically in situations where intelligence may be his most powerful weapon.

There are just way too many issues with this game that ruined the experience for me. I know it's early access and cheap, but I'm not sure this many issues can ever be resolved properly. To begin with, there are only two levels as it stands as of the date of this review. So there is not much content at all. Character movement is also awkward and you cannot remap the WASD movement controls. There is also no controller support. The male voice acting in this game is also atrociously bad. In-game music will also blare over the soft spoken voice acting at times no matter what you change in the volume settings. Inventory is also extremely limited and there is no way to store or drop items. You are therefore forced to use items in your inventory in order to make room for more. Combat is also awful to where you will be wildly swinging a knife or struggling to aim a gun properly. When zombies detect you, they immediately rush and attach to you like a magnet. Combined with the terrible aiming, this makes using the gun almost impossible. Using the knife is also a frustrating experience when two zombies are attacking you and you must press the correct quick-time like key prompts. Zombies will …

So far so good with this one. I've enjoyed the time spent early on. The game features voice over work which brings the main character to life. Can move around freely in the map. It's ur standard survival horror stuff top down. There are puzzles, notes, things to pick up from lockers etc. The combat is fine. I didn't run around like a lunatic. Lookin forward to seein' where the story goes. Gameplay Impressions: https://youtu.be/ym920W4kv4Y

For $3 this is an absolute steal. Ignore the AI voices in the trailer, there were real VAs used in the version I played so I'm assuming the trailer is outdated. The "good": -Cool sci-fi vibes -Space zombies -Interesting combat and exploration -Intriguing and kept me engaged -Great visuals for an isometric The "bad": -I feel like the zombies' movement patterns and behaviors could be tuned a little to better accommodate the stealth part of the gameplay. There's not a lot of nuance, it's just black & white "spotted/unseen" with no in-between, no buffer time to stealth kill an enemy if they see you at the very last second, no mechanic to quickly dispatch unaware enemies coming through a door or around a corner, etc. The ugly: -The color/camera puzzle to get the computer code in Episode 2 threw me for a loop. I used every line of logic that made sense and could NOT progress further. Doesn't help that there's next to no information online (not the game's fault, I just couldn't progress). Had to give up, maybe I'll come back to it one day.
